I have rarely had an issue shipping anything. However, it ALWAYS takes 1-3 longer for me to receive anything. Most recently, I am on day 5 of waiting for a shipment from Rockin Ron.
This is more than enough explicit proof that something is off in these parts (I am not even an hour from the metro). If Ron ships it and it takes more than 2-3 days (and he ships USPS Priority), someone isn't working very efficiently!
He's Ron, for crying out loud! I've had the same thing with ordering anything through USPS including other harp manufacturers that send shipping info. For example, it always takes 1-3 extra days to get combs from Hetrick. Again, they provide tracking and I can confirm when stuff is sent.
The only thing worse is waiting for stuff overseas. I don't get why the local USPS is holding on stuff for extra time. When my case came from Slim, they held onto that too...again, I have patience waiting for something to ship, but when you pay for 2-3 day and it takes 4-6 EVERY SINGLE TIME, it gets frustrating!!!!! ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

Just last week we had an issue with the USPS...I got no mail for a week, so naturally we enquired about it at the local post office. Our normal mailman, a 20+ year veteran was on vacation. Our mailbox is not located on the road;it is on our porch. Most boxes at homes on the River Road(where mine is) do have boxes on the road, but due to a rash of mail theft, I made the switch to a locking porch-mounted box. the sustitute mailman, apparently too lazy to get out of his truck, wrote 'no mail receptacle found-return to sender' on a week's worth of my mail.
Needless to say, I won't be mailing him a Christmas card this year. ---------- Todd L. Greene

Any package USPS to Canada takes 2 weeks minimum. I just try to forget I even ordered it so it comes as a pleasant suprise when it does show up.

We have one of those community mail boxes for the whole street. Our house is only a 100' or so from it, but I think it is weird not to have delivery to the house (we live in a new development).
Our old house, which is only a few blocks away, has home delivery, BUT only to one side of the street. Therefore, our box was across the street.
We are also responsible for shoveling out our mailboxes. Sometimes, we get 100+ inches of snow in the winter. I can't telly you how many times we had a foot of snow and then the street department came through and there was a four foot wall of snow blocking them.
At least now, the neighbor closest has a plow and takes care of it. I get that USPS is out of money, but if I have to walk to get my mail, only have a community box large enough for small flat rate (then have to go pick it up at USPS which is a 15min drive), am asked to clear the area, and wait an extra 1-3 days to get anything??? I mean, c'mon man! ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

I think the folks living in the Florida Keys have it harder than anybody. Next-Day mail takes like three days to get to the Keys. I am not kidding. Of course, if I could step out the back door and cast a fly rod for bonefish, I think I'd be OK with three-day, next-day mail. Does Joey Cummings post on this forum? I think he does. I wonder how long it takes to get mail in American Samoa.
Post office has to be allowed stop Saturday delivery. It's congressionally mandated and running the USPS into the ground.

@STME58
I kinda have difficulty following that. If anything, I'd think the postal service would need LESS storage space what with email replacing most postal correspondance. I've always assumed it was also because of email's taking over that postage rates keep going up. ----------

Being a contract mail carrier myself, I can tell you the postal service is definitely under attack.
People are having to accept large cuts in their contracts, or often as a postal employee, early retirement, etc., etc.
A large number of processing plants are being closed, and so fewer plants across the nation are having to process greater volume which could explain delays.
Smaller post offices are being closed.
If congress hadn't decided that the USPS needed to fund retirement 75 years into the future, it wouldn't be in the red right now.
Anyway, just to let you know like with most topics, there is more to the story than meets the eye, but this is a harmonica forum, and so this is somewhat off topic, but for more info check out jimhightower.org(I think). He has a pretty good take on what's happening with the USPS.
ps: the sub who didn't deliver Todd's mail, probably did not know there were particular circumstances. When you have 400 mailboxes to work, and you are a sub, you don't always know all the details.
Not making excuses, just offering another perspective.

I've talked with many people from other countries over the years selling stuff on ebay. Just about everyone of them have told me that the USA has the best postal system in the world. We are spoiled. It's a lot worse in other countries. :o)

I ordered something from Ron late on a Friday. He's on the other side of the country, so no way it makes it Saturday, Sunday no mail and Monday was a holiday. Tuesday rolls around. I stop by the post office. No notice in my box. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday... I finally go up an ask. Oh, we forgot to put a notice in the box. It's been here all week!
Grumble grumble. Unless I'm expecting something I usually only check my mail sporadically since I get all my bills electronically now. I might not check it at all except I keep getting someone else's mail in my box so the only way they ever get it is if I check my box and turn it back in. It's actually kind of interesting. In the beginning it was addressed to one person, then two people, a guy and a girl. Letters came from the local community college, then a 4-year college. The woman's last name switched to match the man's. I've only ever known them from the outside of their envelopes but I've seen them through all sorts of life events. (I live in a place called 'Guilderland'. They have the same post office box number in 'Guilderland Center' which is a couple miles down the road with it's own Post Office.

I have chatted with USPS about this, politely, more than once. Obviously, they listen, but nothing is going to change.
My frustration is more with the fact that when something is shipped 2-3 day it is never 2-3 days. People pay for 2-3 day, but don't get that. I realize it isn't guaranteed 2-3 day, but you'd think at least occasionally it would be 2-3 day...and certainly not 5-6 on a regular basis.
I got the two harps yesterday. One was a MB in A with the new comb. Someone like Adam would play it straight OOTB and love it. The bends are great for blues players, the OBs can pop, and the high end bends are great.
Really, I was floored, and continue to be floored by the improvements to OOTB harps. Granted, the plates and comb are sharp, but the MB Classic seems to rival any other OOTB I've tried in the last year.
IMO, the MB is a better playing harp for contemporary players OOTB now than the Golden Melody. Not even close...they are getting scarey close to the Crossover, IMO. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

the consensus seems to be that mb1896 and sp20 quality is possibly better than ever...with hohner having a serious competitor as suzuki I would say they had no choice but to make this move

The SP20's have been ridiculous, but I don't get too many people ordering them...and I don't play them.
I've been getting mostly Crossovers for myself, but I don't see any reason to not just get Classics. 1.) the comb is now sealed, which was the reason I didn't get them before 2.) they play as well, whereas I felt even a year or two ago the XO was better even after gapping, etc 3.) Converting to screws only takes a few minutes - about half an hour including sanding and coverplate mods 4.) I gap and flat sand XO's anyways.
In addition, I didn't like getting aftermarket combs that weren't drilled already. It added to my set-up time by quite a bit...different bits, having to line everything up, etc.
I don't mind the new combs. I guess I don't need rounded tines, etc. I have aftermarket combs on all but one gig harp, but don't dislike pearwood. If I knew how to keep them clean and what to restain them with, I would round the corners.
Maybe I will experiment with that. I am assuming the combs are that orange color all the way through. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

UHaha. Here in Russia it takes at least a 2-3 weeks to get postage abroad, often up to one month. So from USA it takes 3 days to export to Russia and at least one week for customs house, and 1-2 weeks to go through the Russia. Local Russian postages usually takes about one week. ---------- Excuse my bad English. Click on my photo or my username for my music.

I think there must be a USPS direct delivery tube that goes from Rockin' Ron's in Southern California to Northern California, or even to my mailbox. My last order from Ron showed up the next day after I placed the order! Never more than 2-3 days.
However, any parts and harps I order from anywhere East of here, all bets are off. Orders from Hohner direct, for example can take upwards of a week to two weeks, sometimes longer.
Must be the jet stream.

6 days from San Diego to Tasmania last time I bought from RR ( i think he is in S D is that right?) Aussies in other east coast locations report the same. But maybe that's a premium service above 'priority'? I wanted a tracking number. I knew things were on the slide for US Postal when they stopped backing Lance and the boys. ----------

For 'great' mail service, go to NYC. It takes longer for a letter mailed to go cross-town than my sister sending me a birthday card from Pittsburgh PA to Northern New Jersey.
