I saw this at the SPAH web site on the seminar list.
Not sure exactly what this will cover? The Olive maybe? Or is there something even newer from Suzuki?
Brendan is always one of the highlights of SPAH for me, so this should be interesting!

He is introducing the all new "SUZUKI RETRO".
It comes with the following features:
porous unsealed wood comb wide reed tolerances to avoid sticking closed back covers to avoid being too loud nailed construction just tuning
Try to act surprised when he announces it. I don't want him to feel bad that you already knew about it

@Todd: Shh!
Hohner might read this and think you'll defect.
Actually, it might be a great opportunity to scare them to make a GM Deluxe. Maybe even a TP model?

heh, heh. :)
it would be nice if the combs came with saw marks and a gouge or two.

I'd be happy with a HarpMaster 3mm shorter, with opened cover plates, and Manji reedplates but with the SP20 tuning. For the price of the current HarpMaster.

Reckon they'll put lead back in the alloy? I don't think anybody ever tried mercury... ---------- David Elk River Harmonicas

@Stevelegh - LOL... especially at the thought of a TP model. I think the odds of us seeing the Suzuki RETRO are greater than seeing a TP model.
But, if Suzuki made something that would work for me, and something that would be better than the Manji reeds are for overdraws, I would consider playing them. But it would have to be pretty darn good to make me forsake my beloved Golden Melodies. lol

If you put the lead back in the reeds it's a given you have to put the nickel back in the covers. Just no Nickelback covers please.

@Todd:
Just from your comment, am I right to think you're using GM's with Manji reedplates in them?

@Stevelegh - No... I'm just saying that Suzuki reeds are not ideal for bending up overdraws like Hohner reeds are. I sometimes need the ability to bend up overdraws a step and a half, so Hohners are my go-to harps for that. However, I have always liked Suzuki harps since I first heard of them in 1990.

@Todd--I wish you would be more careful about mentioning bending OB's up a step and a half! Just consider the feelings of some of us old tweakers who are OB challenged--it's like talking about taking long, wonderful walks in the sun in a hospital ward for people who don't have any legs! ;-) ----------
