my point is if he doesn't like what they are doing then leave. They probably don't care about what happens or that he is pissed and won't do anything about it. Big deal, move on............
@nacoran - whats the use of a billboard in the middle of Times Square if they take it down on you or cover it up. You are better off with a visable one in a dark alley!

I get pinged often for violating copyright. Recently, before Christmas, was told I was in violation for "Silent Night". Could you believe? This tune is performed by millions in all corners of the world who are violating whose copyright?
My way round it is to take the video down and edit and upload with a slightly different title.
If I were you Adam I would simply upload it again with slight changes. ---------- HARPOLDIE’S YOUTUBE

RT123, or you can get them to put the billboard back up. If you look at it from a point of view of total views vs. time spent getting those view, I think the math still comes out way ahead for sorting things out on YouTube. Remember, that back alley sign could end up getting taken down too. I've always believed that when something is broken you look to see if you can fix it before seeing if you can replace it.
(Possible Spoiler Ahead) HarpNinja, if this thread is like The Walking Dead some one needs to make sure Shanester doesn't show up! What an episode!

Littoral, This has nothing to do with the first amendment. The first amendment protects you from the government infringing upon your free speech, and that's not what's happening hear. Youtube has the right to regulate speech on its website (I'm not saying I agree with them taking down Adam's videos. As far as I can see his videos complied with all their rules, so it doesn't make much sense).

"And yet you continue to waste time here in fruitless and baseless speculations instead of moving forward with the appeals process youtube provides. Why is that?"
@timeistight: No worries. I submitted my query to YouTube. They replied with a form email that said, "You should have no trouble accessing your channel." They obviously hadn't read my query, although I submitted it with all the required information. There's nobody at home at YouTube. But I'll keep trying. Thanks for your help.

"In the meanwhile, Adam, in the vein of turning lemons into lemonade, maybe we can get a 'Music so hot it was banned from YouTube' campaign going for you. If someone is going after you based on a grudge, turning this into some free publicity for you might be the best way to make sure they don't win."
@nacoran: That's a brilliant solution! You're a bluesman. That is the way to go. I'll upload it to EACH of the top 13 alternatives to YouTube.
Edited to add: But you're totally right about the importance of YouTube. I'm working right now on a) ascertaining why, specifically, they banned "Crossroads," and b) paying the copyright administrator of that tune--whose name, organization, and phone number I have--for synchronization rights.
I'm a legitimate businessman. I was always prepared to pay for a YouTube synchronization license, if somebody ointed out that I needed one. I'm happy to do that now, if required.

@Kudzurunner:
I don't know if you've taken a look at that vid I posted up earlier, but the crux of it is that you can inform YouTube that your video is for educational purposes, under fair use, which is perfectly legal under copyright law. Please see Wikipedia link below:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
17 U.S.C. § 107
Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include:
the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; the nature of the copyrighted work; the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.[

I think my Crossroads video might have been deleted because a significant portion of it is filmed with me playing at the intersection of a public road and some railway tracks. YouTube might argue, with some validity, that that violates the "dangerous illegal acts" provision. YT's community guidelines state "we draw the line at content that’s intended to incite violence or encourage dangerous, illegal activities that have an inherent risk of serious physical harm or death." There's actually a reasonable case to be made that what I'm doing--setting up my one-man band equipment and two old tube amps in the middle of a public thoroughfare, albeit one in the middle of the countryside, with a disused railway line thrown in for good measure--is designed to incite impressionable young blues fanatics to try similar stunts.
Well. Maybe I'll just forget about contesting THAT video deletion.

Kudzu re:dangerous illegal acts and filming at an intersection.
I can't believe that with all the videos posted on youtube that they watched yours and made a dangerous act decision. The sheer number of videos makes this sound illogical.
The simplest solution is usually the best one. Someone came against you for some reason seems to be the simplest explanation for all the videos disappearing at once.
I agree that without proof, one shouldn't mention names. However, since a name WAS mentioned by a few posters, it indicates to me that reputational damage (well deserved) has been done and existed before this incident, whether he was responsible or not. People make their own beds by their own actions. ---------- The Iceman

It's quite possible that someone may have clicked the flag link inadvertently because clearly there is nothing at all inappropriate about your video. I hope you can re-post it or put it under a difference title. I must have watched that video myself about 20 times.
You certainly can appeal and should appeal that decision. I'm also very certain that if you need support from this forum by way of a petition, you will get that as well. You have my support.

If being on some old railroad tracks counts as dangerous half of YouTube would have to close. I've seen videos of people trying to run across tracks to beat a train and only getting missed by a fraction of a second, and people standing on beaches with 30 ft. waves, not to mention people jumping from rooftop to rooftop for fun. If that can be on there, there has got to be something deeper to the Crossroads thing.

if that's the case of filming in local areas then every news team thats on youtube should be banned as well or anyone that has every Video taped anyone outside!

@kudzurunner: They could be penalizing you for spam in the summary, not for the video content at all. Try reposting the vids without all the linkage and see what happens.
