A guitar-playing friend of mine just announced on FB a new guitar purchase, including the new guitar's name. There was some discussion in the comments about how guitar names were always feminine. Of course, the first thing that occurred to me was that I have never even considered naming any of my harmonicas--and I have a hard time imagining that anyone ever would.
Am I wrong about this? Have any of you ever named any of your harps?

Our band's bass player started out as our lead guitarist. He's named a few of his axes. First one he named was his Gibson ES-175D, "Krusher". He's also named his 1964 ES-355 "Old Red" for its gorgeous cherry burst finish. His 1999 Les Paul Standard is simply called "Les." His Squier Jazz Bass usually goes by the name of "Blondie" due to her natural maple finish. Not really feminine names, but cool ones nonetheless.
In terms of harps Dave, I'll agree with you that naming mine has never really been something at the front of my mind. I have named two of them. The SP20 C-harp and the Blues Harp in A that I replaced the stock combs on with custom aluminum combs from Chris Reynolds are now named "Mustang" and "Sabre" respectively, after the aluminum built P-51 and F-86 fighter planes. Sabre is currently in-op though. Gotta get some A plates for it. ----------

@Stickman
LOL...I was in the orchestra for a production of Big River at my local Muni opera this past summer. Thought about naming my Big River G "Huck." ----------

I could never give one of my harmonicas a male name. There are already too many homoerotic jokes available to add any more. My head just might explode.
Wait, let me rephrase that...

Hawkeye: I'd still be willing to play harps named "Mustang," and "Sabre," I guess. Or "Spitfire."
Stick: I'd probably crack up every time I tried to play a C harp named "Douglas." A D harp, maybe.
Nacoran: Yeah, but playing a harp with a feminine name would be almost like, well... cheating. You know, with a guitar, it's more like just shaking hands or something.
OK, changed my mind. I'm gonna go give all my harps girls' names.
You guys let me know if there are any specific names I shouldn't use.
