Frank is this your personal experience?
Are you making a distinction between Traditional
and Modern Blues? Maybe we need a thread of people playing different TB, LB etc. and hear what the difference is.

Hi Diggs, yes Sir - that is my experience as a traditional blues harp player. I'm not a modern player - maybe a "modern traditionalist"...For the record, LBing is a POWERFUL and EXCITING embouchure to utilize, but again - for a traditional blues TB player - it's usage is extremely limited for special occasions.

smwoerner, curl tonguing?....might that be the same style of the late great Norton Buffalo?
That's got to be a tough one. To learn later in life..too.
Norton, in one of his videos, stated he started out doing it that way out of instinct and never bothered to try another way. If it works....
During the whole thread, I kept yawning and yawning!!
I understand the fervor in wanting to "know" exactly what he's doing.
But the discussion ended up hijackin the thread, a bit.
Though, after listening to Steve Guygers masterful tone and style. I did notice he barely touched the harp. My next question was, wow! I got to try that.
But then again, (how does it go?
..never believe all of what you read, half of what you see, ....?
oh well...what struck me, as equally amazing, was Steve's mellow voice. What a deep mellow BLUES voice.

Just like you can regulate through breathe control the volume at which you play the harmonica, you can also regulate the depth you want the harp to be in your mouth when Tbing. The TB embouchure is a very relaxed, natural and comfortable way to play the harp and great tone is the byproduct.

Alright, I really do hate to interrupt, but what are the tabs to the riff he keeps repeating over and over again in the second video? I have heard Sonny Boy II and some other people use it, too.

It has been driving me crazy trying to figure it out.

I was fascinated by the video I originally posted not because he TB of LP but because here is a blues master harp player who I thought would only play at most 3 positions but he played masterfully in more than those and he obviously had the knowledge but plays simply and within his expert knowledge when he plays gigs. That to me was the main lesson of the video.

yeah, what MAL said.
there are several of the older blues players who can play in multiple positions. jerry portnoy plays at least six and charlie musselwhite is very framiliar w/ more positions than you can shake a stick at.

i'm only good at the first three.
