I am new to the forum and thought I would introduce myself. I have not been playing harmonica for very long, but I enjoy it tremendously. I am currently a graduate student in New York in the field of classics. This past summer, I had the opportunity to study in Sicily. One weekend, I took an excursion to the city of Syracuse and brought along my A harp. Below is a video of me playing the first chorus of St. Louis Blues in the Greek theater, which dates back to at least the fifth century BCE. The acoustics were quite good, much better than the quality of my own playing. Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
I've already made my first forum goof. The question marks that are the subject of this thread were supposed to be an ancient Greek word (xairete in transliteration) that means greetings.
Welcome. If that was an empty theater you were playing to then it's a whole lot better than if it was full when you started! That would answer your question about you playing. lol!!
Just kidding....I couldn't resist the joke. It's the visual, you know.
I've played open mics with fewer people in the audience!
As for the ?????'s, yeah, the site doesn't support many foreign characters. I tried posting a list of all the different words for harmonica and I got the same disappointing results. The only work around I've found, which wouldn't work in a title, is to make a picture of the word you want to post, and post a picture of it. Some foreign text is supported, but I don't know how or which. If you want, I can change the title for you, to something simpler (although I've got to head out the door so it would probably have to be later.)
