Okay, I call this the ballad of the harper. I couldn't sleep, so I got up and wrote it.

The Ballad of the Harper

You don't want to date a lead singer,
Their sincerity is just an act.
What you want's a harp player
They got soul, and that's a fact.

A bass player, he's got long fingers.
A lead singer? A voice second to none.
But a harp man's bread and butter
Well, are his lips and his tongue.

We're not afraid of commitment
Hell, we always ask for the key
And since we're sometimes homeless
We're just happy with something to eat.

You won't find a better time
Than necking with a harper.
Sure, we're often heavy set and bald
And other guys dress sharper,

But when your husband comes home early
Like sometimes is the case
Just throw us our harp
N' faster 'n lighting we'll be out your place

Oh the singer, he'll have to stop and primp
You know the way they always do
And a bass or a guitar player?
No, you want a guy on harp or kazoo.

Drummers are always way too loud
Coming in or going out.
No, ff you want some discreet love
Just give your local harper a shout.

Let's see if we can't get the message out guys! :)

Mind if I recite that as a poem at jams? I'll of course give you the byline before I do.

Thanks harpdude. Hawkeye, yes, that would be cool! That's kind of what it was written for, to evangelize for all us harpers. The question is, what will the other, non-harping band members think? :)

In the case of my band, they'd find it funny. Especially coming from a wet-earred whipper snapper like me. I'll start memorizing it.
