I've brought these up a time or two, usually in threads related to sub-standard harps. I bought a full set of them a few years back because they were too cheap to pass up. Never did like them much, but recently I tore into them with my repair kit and tightened up the reedplates and covers to make them leak a little less so I have some last ditch harps. But I can't find them for sale anywhere now. I'm assuming production ceased, but does anyone know for sure?

The photos I found for Jambone looked an awful lot like the Johnsons. I wonder if maybe they are from the same factory (although the case seems to be a mirror image, maybe that's just the photo though).

Just don't buy them at Sears! They want more than 3 times as much as the online shops!

I have had Johnsons and Hambones. I say they are the same, and if there is a difference, it's not worth talking about.

IMHO johnsons are the best of harps for under $10.00 if you get a decent one they are a good practice harp or one to keep in your car to practice in backed up traffic but if I was going to jam they would stay home

The cases said they were made by AXL...I've never owned a Johnson, so I don't know if this is the same company or not.

@groyster1

The under-$10 harp that I've had the most luck with is the Kay Chicago Blues. They're a little leaky, and slightly tinny sounding. But they have good tuning, and they're easy on the lips. Buddy of mine has a 7-harp set of them, and I have one in C. I think a lot of vendors have discontinued them as well, so they're getting harder and harder to find.
