Hi again! :) I know this forum is mainly for diatonic but there's so much experience on here that I don't think I can find another site with as great feedback as this :)
I've had the SCX-64 for about 5 months but I'm already getting tired of it's sound. I'm looking for a chromatic harp, 12-16 key, that have a much warmer tone and feels like it has a character if you know what I mean? The SCX's tone feels "soul less". I've been looking at Toots Theilemans HardB. and Mellow Tone, anyone have any experience from these two? I play with a u-block technique and I don't know how well that will work with square shaped holes :(
I can add that I mostly play Jazz, soundtracks( everything from disney to the godfather) and a little bit of billy joel + classical. Which chromatics have the most "easy on the ear" sound?
I'd actually recommend a Hering to you on this one. Buddy of mine has a Hering Stan Harper Chromatic, 12 hole 56 reed. Not only does it have an easy on the ear sound to it, it's also easy on the eyes. Brazilian nut wood body. It's pretty in sight and sound. And it's holes are round so you don't have to worry about the u-block. ---------- Hawkeye Kane

The Hohner techs I talked to all play CBH 2016. They say it's the best chromatic ever made by Hohner. This is me play the 2016. Only effect eventide reverb record with an AKG c414 mic. Not overdubbed. Live studio recording.

Suzuki's new Sirius Chromatic Harps are very well made and have a wonderful tone and a very very smooth mouth piece that allows you to just glide easily left to right. It has a nice weight to it as well.
@ Diggsblues I was blown away again by your performance of Sapori. The way you play that is incredible and mysterious while being spiritual, Didn't you say that you wanted to sound like a cello? Maybe the cello should sound like you! Thank you for posting that again. I have spent this last week digging up 70' of sewer by hand and really needed something to lift me up so to speak. You did that with Sapori and the pictures in the background.
My apologies to the OP. I do not want to butt in on your thread. I have a Huang Cadet 12 that I have messed around on since the early 90's. I can't offer any suggestions on what would be a better harmonica for you since I have only played the Huang.
