I know, I know, I know...

This subject has been talked about to the point of whipping the proverbial dead horse, and for some it may bring up bad memories or bad experiences.

But I'm gonna ask this for my own benefit since I haven't been a member here for very long and haven't caught all the posts on it.

Has anyone here gotten a B-Rad, and if so, what are your thoughts? Reason I ask is in case whatever company bought the rights to it decides to continue production even after former orders have been fulfilled, I may want one. Ever since they came out, I always thought they looked cool, and the videos I saw of them being played had really cool sound.

After this, I won't bring the topic up anymore.

Just buy a custom or some higher-end harps in general. Chances of this ever getting up and running again are -19%.

I dunno, eharp...

It's about the same length and content as the Trib's article when the company shut down. They just can't get much info on it, so it winds up being a blurb.

eharp, the links click through fine.

As for getting a Harrison, I think the easiest, most reliable, and quickest way would be to keep an eye out on eBay for a second hand one. They are out there, although people who like them may only part with them dearly.

And if you're lucky, you'll be bidding on the one that was made with your deposit/up-front payment..meaning you got the enjoyment of paying for it twice.

And even then, where would one get replacement plates if needed? The B-Radical looks like it's probably gonna be the DeLorean of harmonicas.

It's just a damn shame in my eyes. We finally had a harp that was stamped "Made in the USA."

"I don't know, Doc, you think that's enough road to get the B-Radical up to 88 MPH?"

Sorry folks, couldn't resist.

I was thinking of a 88 MPH joke, but I hadn't come up with the perfect one yet.

I have a B-flat B-rad. Love it. Smooth easy playing bottom to top. Doesn't choke if you push it a bit. 6 ob if I want it.
I also have three brad harrison marine bands. One's been serviced by Richard Sleigh after a reed went flat after a couple years of hard play. Other two modified a bit (mostly cosmetic) by JR.
These are marvelous instruments. Loud, resonant, subtle. Overblows fall out of them like a Buddha harp but you don't have to be as precise.

Now there's a question that hasn't been asked--
Does Brad Harrison have a future as a harmonica customizer?

eharp - It was posted over on Harp L. That's where I found it. All the links seem to work ok and it seems legitimate. At first I suspected it might be a mock up that someone had made. That doesn't appear to eb the case though. If it is then they have gone to an awful lot of trouble to make all the links work, etc.

@Gnarley: 'Now there's a question that hasn't been asked--

I think the guys rep is shredded in a 'customer facing' capacity, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was already working as a consultant or in R&D for someone. The guy is quite clearly an innovator and a genius. Like many geniuses, they have the ideas, but can't implement them for toffee. He could quite easily work for someone like Suzuki with his skills and they would be quite transferable to other instruments.

It's a good thing that tha Attorney general is investigating. There job will be to determine whether there was intent to deliver, which there was. What happened is what I've said in another ( now locked) thread happened.... And the books were clean.

AG has to investigate if proper paperwork is filed. This does not mean guilt or innocence, but procedure must be followed.

Sure he does, but the trust arrow has to go in the opposite direction now, as in, " I customize a harp and ship it to you, THEN you pay me.

there's a comment at the bottom of that article stating that people who paid in full up front were trying to jump up in line for a harp. which i disagree about. the hook there was, pay in full for a guaranteed harp at that price. which we did.

i fail to get all warm and fuzzy about what a genius Brad Harrison is. that's really great and i respect brilliance. but it didn't extend to business sense and i'm out $200, because i trusted a guy who was sincere yet in a business sense had no real scruples or competence. there had to be a point where that small voice we all have was saying, "give back the money, quit taking orders, fess up that you screwed the pooch", but like a lot of people, he didn't listen to that voice and do right. instead, he kept filling orders- orders possible placed well AFTER i placed mine- and i end up empty handed.

this may have been a very expensive lesson in trust for me. as in, don't!
