Does anyone know if these are still being produced or sold anywhere? I spotted them on musiciansfriend about a year ago and thought they looked awesome. But now I can't find them anywhere except the Hohner catalog.

EDIT: Sorry. Don't know why it posted twice.

Guitar Center sometimes has these. If I remember correctly they are only made in the key of A and its a MS series with thicker reedplates.

CHROME MS plates apparently. Hell, I'd just settle for the sweet cover plates and put them on one of my Blues Harps.

Not really a bird, but it looks like an old hood emblem from a classic car.

I've got a set of black powder coated Golden Melody cover plates that Chris Reynolds did for me. They're mounted on a white comb. I'll try and post some pictures later in the week.

Gotcha.

If anyone out there knows how I can just get ahold of the Deuce and a Quarter coverplates, lemme know. And yes nick, I will ask Frank if you can send me an email on how to get ahold of him.

Honestly, the black cover plates were the only reason I bought my set of Piedmont Blues harps a couple years ago. They failed to mention on musiciansfriend however that the cover plates were plastic and not greblon or powder coat metal.

Hawkeye, you can find TNFrank in posting all over the harmonica world using the same handle. If he hadn't gotten himself banned in a tiff with NOD he'd have a million posts by now. Anyway, he got angry just before he left and started deleting all his posts. He got several hundred of them before he was booted.

When the forum is real slow I miss having them around. When they weren't at each other's throats they were both pretty amusing guys. Frank, famously, nearly completed a trade with someone in Scandinavia- harps for beef jerky! (Actually, he may have in fact completed the trade. That was about the time he left, so if you do track him down on another forum and he still has his Deuce, there is good chance he might be interested in trading if you give him something good.)

And NOD? If you ever want to be mooned by someone with a harmonica wedged in their backside (and who doesn't) there is a famous post in the practice your forum skills thread!

Ah, the memories. :)
(I still talk to NOD sometimes on Facebook. As long as TNFrank isn't around he doesn't bite.)

Try typing the keywords TNFrank and harmonica into a Google search. You should get a ton of hits. In fact, he seems to have written a review of the Deuce on musiciansfriends!

It may take a while. There are a lot of posts and he moves around a bit. :)

Suzuki Firebreaths have black covers as well. And, whatever the coating is that Suzuki is using is fantastic. Tough as nails and slides easily 'twixt yo' lips. Sort of a personal motto of mine.

Its amazing to me, how much we harp players covet the looks of an instrument that no one ever sees...

@ Kyzer

Agreed. Same goes for bullet mics. But we're just as envious and proud of our instrument as guitarists are of theirs.
