How do I open a Marine Band with stripped screws?

saltyd 4 posts Jun 30, 2011 1:56 PM	I have a Marine Band with tiny flathead screws. I have been trying to open it with a little screwdriver for eyglasses repair, and it seems like the threads have gotten so shallow that I can't even get a a good fit to turn the screws. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? Short of getting a dremmel and grinding off the screw heads I can't think of any way to get this open so I can clean it. I was wondering if anyone's ever dealt with this same situation and if there's any less drastic solution to getting the thing opened.
belfast_harper 261 posts Jun 30, 2011 2:10 PM	If you have a standard marine band those scews will be nails stamped at the top to look like screws.
