Hi Harpers, well it's official i am no longer a harpin virgin, i finally made it up on stage last night and performed two of my own compositions sang and played harp with a full band!
I must admit it did'nt really hit me till today that i had done it coz i had my mind locked down so tight to control the nerves but now i'm feeling really good about it.
I got a mate to film it but my camera ain't so good in low light conditions so i don't know if it's suitable to post.
I got a pretty good round of applause when i was done and loads of hand shakes and back pats and then as i was making my way back to my mate a bloke stopped me and said "that was really good would you like to be in my band?" well i was so stressed out and buzzing i just said "yeah sure great" and kept on walking and then thought i had better exchange numbers with the bloke.
Anyway i rang him today and i am going down to his place tomorrow for a bit of a jam to see wot's wot, so who knows what might happen!.
I would just like to say a big thanks to all you guys for all the encouragement last week when i said i was doing this cos it really did help but mostly i want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Adam for creating this site and all his lessons because without him i would'nt be doing this.

Well done Geordie, it's the listening, sensitive, harp players are the one's who are asked to play with other musicians.

Now you have been 'baptised', see if you can come to the UK harmonica festival in Bristol in late October.
There is cracking jam on the opening friday night, all welcome:)

There is nothing like a successful improvised live performance with other musicians. While you are up there playing, nothing else in the world matters--you are completely in the moment, and it's almost like nothing else exists during that time. And you feel so good about it afterward--good feelings and good memories of what happened. A very different fulfillment than playing by oneself.

Congrats! It's a rush, to say the least-especially when you get a good crowd response AND you feel good about your performance. Learning your way around PA equipment and all the problems that can occur, dealing with lights in your face, experiencing new musicians onstage, and figuring how to gauge and enlighten a crowd are now part of your new learning curve. Welcome to the dark side!

Thanks guys,i went down to jam with the bass player who offered me the gig today and we got on great, turns out he used to play bass in Mick Ronsons band after he left Bowie and he's been playing for 49yrs so i'm amazed he wants me along for the ride but he says although i'm a raw recruit he sees a natural talent so thats a big compliment.
I have a list of songs i am going to try to learn which is a masssive challenge for me because of my memory injury but i am gonna give it a go and we are gonna do Crosscut saw together at next months jam
