Ummm, okay.....

I think we can now officially say that Hohner has Jumped the Shark.

Yes, that is a Guitar Center exclusive. According to Andy at Hohner, it's something that Guitar Center requested. They wanted something with skulls on it. Funny thing to me is that it's called the Last Gasp, and below that we see the Hohner slogan, "Just Breathe."

I think they are trying to appeal to a different [age] demographic.

Shit, I'll bet if they produced a model that had Facebook and Twitter logos, they'd crack open a huge market. The packaging could say "Just Tweet"

Okay, now skulls are pretty cool, I have to admit. You see, one of the main purposes of any harmonica producer is to satisfy the largest pool of buyers and enter their product(s) into the mainstream of consumerism as with cymbals or guitars. Anyway, I'd love to see the harmonica used in rock more often, it certainly has the potential as an instrument.

Last time I was in GC my boy saw that and wanted it (he's 10). I talked him out of it.

Oh, he's got other harps, I didn't want to get him that one that day. He blows the hell out of em. It sounds like music sometimes. Of course I could say the same about myself.

What do they charge for one of those?

$15. I'm thinking about going back to get it just to hang on the wall. Like Todd pointed out, I like the irony of "last gasp/just breathe".

i'm at least 10 years old and i would want one too.
but, they only cost $15. when a hohner costs half as much as a GM they tend to be cheapo/chinese stuff.

i'll bet you can put the covers on something good.

plus it has a scary 'mouse coffin' case.

It's a shame. They should be doing special covers for SP20s and Marine Bands instead. And unless they've improved the technology, it will wear off. The gold lettering (unfortunately including the key) wear off of Piedmonts in a couple days.

it's unfortunate to have purchased a piedmont. i saw one for the first time 2 weeks ago. i was fixing harps for a guy and he accidently included a piedmont with the SP/20s and GMs he sent.

the covers are a soft flexible plastic. he told me to junk it. i kept the screws and may make tools out of the reed plates.

i'd like a fancier coverplate design for SPs. the black they use on harps is cool, but like you say nac, it wears right off.
