I enjoyed that. I actually started the vid, got an email, looked at that, started filing some paperwork and totally forgot about the vid and just took in the music.
It was only when it stopped I noticed. Really nice chilled out groove and great harp playing. Sometimes listening to harp stuff can be a chore despite how good it is. This was on the other hand was just great music.
---------- I like it. There are a few spots where the harp could come up in the mix a bit. I like the harp playing but it needs a hook to compete with the main hook.
Have you tried mixing multiple harp tracks? I've had some good results playing with, for instance, a G harp to make a bass line and then playing a C harp over for the melody. I've also messed around with a Low Low F for a more percussion like sound. I don't have really polished recordings, but I'm pretty happy with the sound I'm getting. You can even build it live with a loop pedal.
When you want to embed a video from Youtube look below the video and there will be a little button that says embed. Click it and copy the code it gives you and paste it here.
Yeah. This is clearly more what you are meant to be doing. Ditch those MC's and concentrate on this stuff. It's great. Now that BNB is dead (RIP!), you are poised to fill that niche. But you don't sound exactly like Bad News, which is cool. In fact, at least from this particular track, I was getting a West Coast 90's flavor. A little like Tupac's "California Love" and stuff like that (which is what I grew up on, being a Cali boy). I really dig it. Keep it coming!
On critique was that in a few places I heard the groove falter when you were playing up high. But a non-harp player probably would never notice that in a million years! ---------- == I S A A C ==
true i had a hard time with the high notes im still working on them now. i dont know enough things to do up in the higher register. any tips like some triplets or good minor type scale in the upper register?
I think it's awesome that you have your daughter (presumably) in the video. She looks like she likes the harmonica too.
I hope someday when I have children they will be interested in harmonica and want to pick it up and play... but I won't be disappointed if they pick slide guitar instead! :)
@ Toxic Tone 9 blow 9 draw 8 draw over and over untill you have to take a breath. Also a good breathing exersise is: 9 blow 9 draw 8 blow 8 draw 7 blow 7 draw 7 blow 8 draw 8 blow 9 draw and do it all over again untill you run out of breath. This will get you familiar with playing the draw notes on the high end in second position.
i have a hard time with my 10 bends how do i adjust those again i forget and i cant remember where i saw them talk about it. also whats the best way to go about selling some cds i got 11 songs that im going to do but should i sell em on line or just go out in public and sell em and for how much. any ideas?
@Toxic Throw a 3 draw half bend between the D3** and D3. Also 6OB between 6D and 7D (OB stands for overblow). Here's a little practice lick for overblows and getting the hang of third position. Play 5 blow then bend it up smoothly to the OB Play 6 blow then bend it up smoothly to the OB 7D 7B 8D 8B When I use to practice 5th position I would drop the 7B and play 7OD( OD stands for overdraw) The 7B is the minor sixth and the 7OD is the major sixth. I just think it sounds cool to bend three notes up in a row. Like in 1st position playing 4 5 6 blow and bending each of them up!
ahhh i c. kool thats enough stuff to work on for a good while. i have trouble with my ob and i dont think i ever OD on the 7 before but ill work on it. thanks man. im pretty good on the 6 and 5 OB i wonder why just those 2 r easy. thanks!
