Just testing out Brown Sugar, my new 1945 JT-30 which i recently got from rharley, Simply Unique Custom Mics (SUKM).
The mic has the original paint job and is dated 1945, rharley sent me the original element dated 1945 but has replaced it with a Shure 99A86/010 element which i forgot to mention is dated around 1960. Its also been fitted with a volume control.
Ron was a pleasure to deal with and kept me informed all the way through the process. Thanks Ron!!!!

I got a mic just like that, I like the brown crinkly paint makes it good to grip. I was lucky to get mine like new in it's box. I liked your rendition of Juke it played along nice & smooth
That's a beautiful looking mic man! And you get a great tone with it too (not to mention some great playing on Juke!). congrats! ---------- == I S A A C ==
@Reverblow. They don't have any pricing on that page. The pricing is "cheap enough so it won't break your bank" or something like that. You have to e-mail for pricing.
WOW!! Ant great playing !! Thank You For This fine Demo !
@Reverblow,. Yes,. My MySpace link is pretty vague,. It wasn't till they did a new format an I lost a lot of info/pics on my page >< I'm gonna have to rework it to bring it up to date,.Thanks You can contact me at: simplyuniquekustom@sbcglobal.net
@Joch230 My motto is : SUKM // Rharley,.Mics At A Price That Won't Break The Bank !

I recognized the sound track right away...however your playing makes it sound better than my version. Nice sound from you and your relatively inexpensive kit.
Anyway justed wanted to also promote Shoji as I have purchased from him and was please with what I got. ---------- MBH member since 2009-03-24
Ant-an EQ will divide the sound into different bands, from bass to treble, and you will have sliders for each which will allow you to tailor the sound somewhat, such as cut excessive treble, boost the midrange, etc. On a stock Epi, it's worth a shot, but personally I'd upgrade to better tubes first. That alone will warm the sound up a bit. Mine's modded and has a treble cut, so no EQ is necessary. ---------- Todd
@todd: thanks todd, that makes sense. I've been thinking about tubes recently but again i havn't a clue where to begin??
Duh!! i could use the forum search tool and read up on old Tube threads, i know there have been a fair few in the past. I keep forgeting to check old threads for stuff:o)
I like the JJ 12ax7(I forget the actual part number, but it's the cheapest!) for the preamp, and I found some old RCA grey plate 6QB5 tubes(same thing as an EL84, but the old desgination;presumably the military number) for a steal on Ebay. Since yours in stock, you might want to look for a 5751 in lieu of the 12ax7, just to cut the head a little bit.
I did some demo vids of my amp stock with different preamp tubes(12at, 12ay & 12au)before Randy Landy got ahold of it, too. They're in here somewhere. ---------- Todd
@ Ant138,. Here ya go Ant ,.Turn that Epi into an awesome harp amp ! Gonna post for every one in a new thread: http://www.lwharpamps.com/projepimod.html
@rharley , that looks very cool indeed. The only problem is i can hardly wire a plug let alone mod an amp. Those amp diagrams look like the blueprints in prison break lol!!! ----------
I learn things when I least expect it alot of the time. I noticed you are playing an EPI V. JR. (I have the head and cab version) and that you are playing just where the volume knob is on. I have been struggling with that wanting to crank it up to get "Tube Tone" but it's too damn loud. And that you are sitting right in front of it without feedback and you have a great sound. I have a different outlook now. GREAT PLAYING BTW!
The Epiphone doesn't need to be turned all the way up to get good tone but I know what you mean about wanting to crank the volume.
There is no way i can play that amp above ON, its just so damn loud, especially in such a small practice room. I would have the neighbours over in seconds.
Its a real shame because that amp becomes a beast when you turn it past 9 o clock, but then you get feedback issues aswell. At least i know i've got the power if i ever need it.
Hey Ant, I thought that I would send you these photos as food for thought on the volume of the Epi. I asked around, at one point, and didn't get much response on anyone else using something like to either control volume, use the EQ and/or have extra lines and this one has effects. I have the stomp box on the second line.
The set up you have looks awesome, the stomp box is very cool indeed:o)
@CamiloHarper, Thanks for the comments.
Hoepfully i've improved although it wasn't long ago i felt stuck in a rut, and to some extent still do, but i guess thats what keeps me going:o) ----------
