I put this table together on Michael Rubin's suggestion. It summarizes how the different positions relate to each other via the chords played within each. For example, playing the V chord in 2nd position is essentially the same as playing the I chord in 3rd position.

This table is included in the latest version of my interval layout charts linked from my user page.
Comments & criticisms welcome.

I'm glad I suggested it because I've never seen anything like it! Great job. Michael Rubin

OK That answered a question I was working on. Q.? where is the chord for the 2nd scale position in cross harp? A. 6-10 draw (I can't make a chord with 3draw bend)
Now I gotta find if there's a practical way to use it.

Really useful chart. You could also add in the VIIb chord, which would be 11th position in Strsight Harp

Nice table but I'm curious how would you utilize this to become a better player? Or is the intention to make different positions seem less intimidating by showing that a lot of the same stuff crosses over? Maybe I just need to pull out a harmonica & think about it a bit more, heh.

I finally got around to adding the VIIb chord, per GamblersHand's suggestion. Hopefully, I got it right.

Ryan, it really just documents what I think is an interesting phenomenon, but I think it does accomplish what you say about making the positions less intimidating by showing how they're related to playing the changes.

And it should be a useful thinking/focusing point for finding your way through chord changes if you tend to get lost trying to count bars/beats. (But thank god this wasn't some sorry ass tale about how some guy's girl left him when he lost his job! :)
