I had one of those for a while. Tonally, nothing else compares. Unfortunately, the volume can't keep up with a modern band. Have fun with that thing. I find it inspiring. It made me want to play. A lot.

I rebuilt one myself 6 month ago. I gave her a good bath, replaced all her capacitors and faulty resisters. Not the prettiest or loudest but she sure can rock my world.

rharely, you so funny!!...I do my best to keep my friends happy. I do, occasionally, throw some gear their way. It's no fun having all the toys! I'm a low budget DIY kinda guy, too. If all goes well after my tech friend takes a look at it, the 'gear' will move up a notch. Pure tone...'nothing else compares", indeed.
And it makes me want to hustle and play better, too. Because, if I play better, I can attract good musicians, which in turn attracts gigs, in turn attracts bigger venues, in turn I can hear the sweet sound of a harp gasm!...going off in my pants!
I know I know...too much information.
Yeah, a friend brought one over last week...(my last gasm experience). It was a done deal..I had to atleast look for one..now I have to sell something. No problem.
I got lucky, you could say.
There were two Masco's online. One said it was a MA-12...and the other didn't look at all like my friends...the MA-12, on closer inspection, the numbers were scratched a little, and it only looked like a MA-12 (instead of the MA-17 it was).
A word of advice for anyone who wants something bad, and doesn't want to wait.
You guessed it....go around Ebay, and make an offer. Make it a good one, though. The person selling it knew my offer was decent(225).
So he easily parted ways.
He was trustworthy, too.

Lucky I was...

Joe L...you're right they're loud, too...but, could be slightly louder. I can't get it past 5 for my venue here in town. Plenty for now.
they are reeeeeeally killer. but you can't take it with you, eh?
Pistolero....should I give it a paint job?...the cage is pretty beat. The visual of vintage beat up gear is priceless. There's a fine line.
Maybe I'll do it and show y'all later.
The Rola's are part of the sound, too. 4 of em all closely matched ohm readings...and parallel/series 8 ohm load. Hmmmm. wow factor!
Practicing more, now that I have a nice sound....so true..'inspiring'.
My neighbors are not happy. I have to go out now and play it. Boo hoo.

Masco's really "kick it" with harp! Always have. :o) I would leave the looks the way it is. Nothing better than a well worn looking old amp putting out a great sound.

I'd leave it as is, most likely.

Hey I'm a gemini...the other one decided to give it a face lift. We talked about it a little. If it was 'clean dirty'...yeah, o.k. But it was pretty 'butt ugly'. So presto...nothing drastic. Now it looks proud, to be a Masco.
