some time ago in the 'how well a harp performs' thread Silvertone mentioned making a draw scraper out of an allen wrench.
i was digging out loose detritus from the bottom of a toolbox the other day and found all these little orphan allens.

i found one to small enough to fit the narrow reed slots(six and above) and sawed it very close to the right angle.
i beveled it and it fits perfectly in my Seydel pin vise.

it peels the brass like a champ or, if you only need a little scratch, it does a fine line too.

The thanks should really go to Richard Sleigh!! I never would have thought to use a drawscraper much less make one if he had not so generously posted imfo on it.
