whats up, im a new member too.

i never had a lee oscar but it seems like they are normally considered pretty good. alls i ever had was hohner marine bands and special 20s and also a couple suzuki promasters, those were all really good harmonicas. heck i even had an old standby that wasnt too bad and those arent a proffesional quality at all, their like ten bucks

Lee Oskars are fine and very hardwearing

Welcome! I think that LOs are harder to play; they don't respond well and take a lot of air to play. On the plus side they are very sturdy with crush resistant SS covers. Good for carrying in a pocket if you don't mind a little lint.

Welcome aboard!

Lee Oskars aren't good for overblowing. Something about torsional squealing or something. If you don't plan to overblow they are good harps. Rich, I wonder if you got a bad one. My LO's are all REALLY responsive. They'll play with less force than just about any other harp I've got. I've even held them up in a breeze and they'll sound.

They seem to be nearly indestructible. They seem to be equal tuned. I don't have any of the alternate tunings, but I like the sound of some of their alternate tunings, although I think you can get all the other brands in minor tunings too. (Seydel let's you pick almost any reed layout you want.) Lee Oskar seems to push their minor tunings more than other brands though.

Some people don't like the feel of the embossed letters on the covers, but I actually prefer it to the fine engraving on, say a Hohner. It's like going over a hill instead of a pothole. The hill might seem bigger, but the little pothole is rougher. I actually think it feels gentler on the lip than most other harps. The only complaint I have is those goofy square holes on the ends. They catch mustache hairs.

At least one member has complained about the quality control on other Tombo harps, but it seems pretty good on the LO's. You can't get other Tombo's in the U.S., so I've never tried other Tombo models.

Welcome

LOs were some of the first harps I bought (8 years or so). I still have all of them as they are long lasting. However I agree with OzarkRich in that they reguire more breath force (than say my Suzuki's) which made hitting some of the lower notes a bit harder as a beginner. I don't care for the deep embossing on the covers either.

Bottom line...they have pros and cons, most of which are personal to the player.

Thank you all for your hearty welcome and for your answers .I do'nt have mustache but i noticed that the cover's corner are quite "sharp" ,this harp seems to last a long time , i find it's easier to bend than my special 20 , so i'm interested for this model , i do'nt have much money ( crisis ).A great french player (SEBASTIEN CHARLIER) told me they are not suitable for overblows , but i do'nt overblow for the moment ...I play old style blues...well , i try to...

Yeah, I like the Lee Oskars, I have yet to wreck one, and they get hammered. I have only had one reed go out of tune, and I was able to retune it easily. I have had reed failure on Hohner Blues masters, marine bands and special 20's. I've even had a reed or two fail on Suzuki Manji's, which are my preference for performance.
