Aloha, Dose any body have any experience with or opinons about the Retro Rocket mic? I saw it on Rockin Rons' site and it looks cool and functional. My amps are the Harpgear 2 and the SJR 410. I have a bullet CR mic.

gotta admit, they do look cool. up close they seem kinda cheap and waiting for a dent to happen.
modern crystals are in general, low output and thin sounding. you can adjust your amp to compensate for deficiencies inherent in shakers and other modern crystal mics though.
i'm sure your shure will out perform the shaker six ways to sunday. ----------

No they are not cheap but if you drop'em it will dent, especially on my kitchen floor.
I have had one for years, and don't use it much only because I tend to just use the pa wherever.
It is a crystal element and sounds not thin but quite electrically harsh, sorry but I don't know how else to put it.
The makers, on this forum, have said they have had good customer response.
I still have mine and it does look good, you have to hear it to make your mind up bluesnut.

I have one. Its Ok. Sounds pretty good through the HG2. Bass response is not as good a Shure 545 and I prefer dynamic mics to crystal. I'd sell you mine for $50 if you want to try it out.

I have a Shaker Retro Rocket mic... it's not bad and its not great... depends on the sound you are looking for and the amp.
What I do like about it is the size... the front is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter.
I took a large cylindrical plastic prescription bottle that was about 5 inches long, cut the bottom off, and trimmed the top where the lid attaches. The bottle is tapered from top to bottom and the bottom fits nice and snug on the front of the Retro Rocket.
Here's a couple of photos...

I don't think any of the Shaker mics are really well liked here, right? What about the shaker dynamic?

Shaker dynamic is okay. Fits the hand well and is indestructible. ----------

There's no comparison between a good Shure CR or CM and the Shaker Mics. However I wonder if you could fit a Shure 545 element in the Shaker body.

I've thought about having a new element put in because I really like the comfort and looks of the shell. I wonder if Greg or someone else could chime in on the feasibility of this.

i've thought about it, and the shell might just be too small in diameter and depth. i wonder what gregg thinks too. ----------
