Shortly after midnight today I placed an order with Rockin' Ron's for a Seydel Blues Session Low D. I got an e-mail from them at 10:30 this morning saying they've already shipped the thing!!

i love rockin'rons. but...of all the SEYDELS, the session series is not very good. better off with spending $10 more and getting a gorgeous blues solist pro. completely sealed maple comb. tone to the bone.

After reading the umpteenth endorsement for Rockin' Ron's I decided to go and check out the website.

I just purchased two Manjis in A and Low F. Crossing my fingers as I went out on a limb with this impulse purchase.

Update: I ordered my harps around 5pm EST today.

Ron called my cell phone at about 5:35 to tell me that the shipping label hadn't printed out my special mailing instructions of "Leave in mailbox". He assured me that the packaging was small enough to fit in a mailbox anyway.

We had a nice conversation for a few minutes. I was blown away that he had called AND that he was already shipping my order.

WOW!

I've been a loyal customer of Ron's for probably two years for all but the customs and B-Rad I've bought. I will not shop any where else.

clyde,

a friend ordered 3 SESSIONS from rockinron. he asked ron what was the closest thing to a SP/20 that SEYDEL makes. ron said the sessions, BUT added that the better harp to get was the SOLIST PRO. i like the solist pro.

my friend, against rons opinion ordered the sessions. he hated them. he showed them to me. i tried them and hated them too.

they sound like a low end hohner. like the bluesbender or any number of cheaper harps like the huang silvertone. as if the reeds were thinner and made in china.

i was surprised. i thought everything seydel made was good. oh well. maybe gene will like his.

different strokes and all...

"...Maybe gene will like his...."

I hope so. This is the first thread I've read anything negative about them.

I don't know what's inside the Sessions, but I do like covers that go to the ends. Also, I did not see a Low D in the Soloist Pros.

i hope you do too. there are varying opinions as to what is good or not. but..............

norton buffalo used huang star performers, and he was awesome.

for a time, mark hummel used big rivers.

taj mahal used lee oskars.

just three examples of harps a lot of people don't care for but played by great players.

Ron has always been great with my orders. One time I ordered a Manji and replacement reed plates for two older MS Blues Harps. A few hours later he called me to say that the order had been shipped but there was one set of replacement reeds that he did not have, so he just included a new MS Blues harp in the key I wanted. He didn't have to do that but that's just the kind of guy he is.

And he remembers his customers!

Ron always emails me usually the day i order from him to let me know the order is received, processed, and shipped. i've never had a bad experience with his business and recommend him highly to anyone who can benefit from a principled, ethical, punctual guy.
many times i've needed a harp or plates like RIGHT NOW. Ron has been by far the fastest shipper and has had what i needed every time out.
