I bought a lee oskar in A but it didn't realy suit my TBing style. When i try to play the 2 draw it leaks air threw the holes in the comb. Is this only me or does someone else have that problem? In my world the golden melody and suzukis would be perfect for TBing the low holes but i read somewere that GM style covers are made for puckering? I'm a beginner so i would like to try something else then the SP20 but i can't afford buying ten crappy harps.

The air shouldn't leak from the holes in the cover. The two knocks on LO's are they don't overblow well (which is fine if you don't overblow) and the holes in the covers catch mustache hair. I switch between pucker and Tb and the Lee Oskars don't seem much different. I think their holes are a little bigger than some other harps so it might take some adjusting your embouchure.

I like the shape of GM's on my hand but the protruding reedplate is rough on my lip. Same thing for Marine Bands. I haven't played a Suzuki yet. I've got a Seydel Blues Favorite that I love the feel of. It's got a protruding reedplate, but it's much smoother than the Hohners I've tried and I think the long covers might actually be more comfortable in the hands than the GM.

When I started buying harps I made a chart of the things I wanted to try in my head and tried to buy harps to try each thing.

Covers:
So far I've tried long covers, jellybeans (like the GM) and regular harp shapes. I still haven't tried the long covers with the square corners like the Suzuikis.

Tuning:
I've tried equal, just and compromise, although I haven't decided which one I like best.

Comb Material:
I've gotten around to sealed wood, aluminum, plastic and unsealed wood. That's about the order I'd rate them, although I'd put the first two as a tie.

Reedplates:
Protruding and Recessed:
I'll take recessed (LO's, SP20's) over protruding (GM, MB, Blues Harp) although my Seydel's are so smooth they don't bother me at all.

Everyone is going to have their own favorites, so I figured I'd try getting as many possible combinations out of the way with as few harps as possible to try to make up my own mind. I would suggest as you get more harps trying to get as many of those choices checked off with as few harps as possible and then start zeroing in on the combinations you liked. (The next two harps I think I'm getting will be a 1847 modded with long covers and a Suzuki to check off the long covers with a square top and the stainless reeds.)

Try a Suzuki Hammond. Best harp in my case and I've got Crossovers, MBDs, LOs, a GM, and Manjis. I TB 100% of the time but don't have a problem with the LOs. I used to hate them when I first started cuz I found it hard to play but now I realize that they're not that bad. Their size is my biggest complaint. I like the MB sized harps.

I'm a big LO fan, but also use SP20's in G and A because I like their low hole response a little better. I have a Suzuki Hammond that is butter smooth in D, and I'm sure it's just as responsive in A. Highly recommend them if you have the cabbage. $50 on Amazon.

@nacoran - The LO's do grab the whiskers from time to time!

Me and the LO realy don´t get along. The covers does not suit me and the holes on the combe/covers leaks air. I put some electrical tape on there and the trouble went away. But i dont like the covers.
Maybe ill try a hammond next time.
Actually if you put the harp like a lollipop in your mouth and suck thru them while covering all holes you get a nice one-ten chord. Maybe someone else can try it on a LO to see if it´s just mine?

The Seydel 1847 cover plates fit Lee Oskars... I had moustache hairs getting caught in my 1847's, and switched to full-length covers, and put some of the 1847's plates on my Lee Oskars.

The 1847 cover plates are very comfortable on the Lee Oskars due to the "rounded" corners (no crack).

Also, on the Lee Oskars to stop them from grabbing hairs, put a dab of silicone sealer (like the "GOOP" brand)in the little crack that grabs and you should eliminated the problem... worked for me !
