I meant no offense in my posting on the thread that was locked because of me. I am sorry to everyone that I caused that. I thought that it would be ok to make my statements and ask those questions under that thread and I was wrong. I made a bad decission and I will not bring up the subject again and I sincerely hope I didn't make anyone uncomfortable.

You did nothing wrong. You just reminded everybody--and me, in particular--of the pain that more general discussions of religions have caused on the forum. I also received several emails this morning that made me realize that other painful stuff had probably happened in the vicinity of the thread while I was asleep. Past experience teaches me, with regard to this particular issue, that it's better to be safe than sorry. You've done nothing wrong and are a member in good standing.

Thanks Adam. Curiosity Killed the Cat. Sometimes I have to remind myself not to overthink, and tell myself to just shut up and play.

Adam, Why over reacting ?

RT123 post was fine and genuine and did actually shed a different light on the same subject. I feel bad for him having to apologize. It just shows how a nice person he is.

The only "friction" in the thread was actually beetween Joeleebush an myself, not at all about religious matter, and it was resolved in a very gentlemanly and civilized manner (while you were sleeping), with no rancor whatsoever. And we both agreed to delete those posts (and I must thank him here for that).

You're an academic, I am one too, and I'm certain you don't believe a word of what you wrote, saying the thread was about religion. It was not. The OP was a question about meaning, and all the posts sticked to that. Meaning, history, anthropology, yes. But there's not a single post questionning beliefs.

I can very much understand your closing of the thread as a preventive action, but that really was a little too preventive. And then, what's left ? Next step is no thread vaguely related to sex, and we are done discussing blues :o)

What worries me is I feel there's no place left to discuss that kind of subjects (history, semantics, anthropology...) which are at the very core of what blues is. In other words, I have a hard time thinking of blues harp only as a pastime for middle-aged white men :o)

I know some people are not interested at all, and that's fine with me. I also know that this forum will still be a great place with great people. But, to put it plainly, I would be pissed off (sorry for that) to not even being able to read your very own articles that you graciously share here, just because it maybe could (?) draw unwanted posts.

My point is : what about a room somewhere in DSBHF 0.2, maybe with flashing red warnings all around, where we could still hold that kind of discussions, which I find to be some of the most enlightning here ?

Same opinion here, sarega summed up what I wanted to say about it all. That topic about Blues and the Devil was very interesting, and I didn't have time to participate...

I agree that we need a place on the forum to discuss those subjects.

@ saregapadanisa - Don't feel bad for me. I didn't have to apologize and wasn't asked to, I wanted to because I felt it was the right thing to do. I agree with Adam to lock the thread and move on.

Saregapadanisa, that disagreement jumped threads. Until I read the other thread I thought things were okay too. The other thread was also closed.
