A number of people have contacted me about the Sjoeberg combs I use...
I just thought I'd share that Dick Sjoeberg now offers custom combs for Marine Bands as well as Golden Melodies. If you missed the original thread, you can read up on the combs here: http://harmonicasessions.com/?p=91
The MB combs will fit the regular MB as well as the MB Deluxe and Crossover.

All because no one checks my thread organizer customizer topic! I've had his link on there from the start!
They are some nice looking combs; I'm glad to see someone on the forum who's actually seen them in real life. I saw the pictures when I first stumbled on his site and was impressed.
Good luck.

Check out these galleries from Ablie Robles...these are the combs and what they look like on a GM...Dick made these harps.
I am beyond honored to be working with him and learning his masterful ways. He does fantastic reed work too...very fun stuff. ____________
Those combs really are wonderful to play on. I shot some Photos for Sjoeberg. You can see them here. http://picasaweb.google.com/grillslinger/CustomGoldenMelodyCombByDickSjoeberg#
His custom Golden Melody can be seen here. http://picasaweb.google.com/grillslinger/CustomGoldenMelodyByDickSjoeberg#

I thought so...! I met him in Trossingen 2003, during the hohner masterclasses. Very nice guy ! We both where in the same class listening to the great Joe Filisko. It was at that time that I discovered the infinity of harmonica.

I don't have any pics of the MB combs. They are pretty much identical except the shape. I just found out about the MB combs being available to the public. I added them as an option on my customs page, but at this point, if you want just the comb, your best bet is to get a hold of Dick.

I know he is busy with a large scale project, so the site and such isn't much of a priority, but you should have good luck with him via email.
I think the combs are technically drilled with the holes for MBD and Crossover reed plates - which are the same thing. ---------- Mike Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas Updated 1/11/11

I'm the guy who photographed hat stuff for Dick. At the moment that's I have to photograph. I'll be working with Dick on his website once he finalizes his project.
The comb and his custom Golden Melody are both fantastic. ---------- Read tips, reviews, and exclusive interviews at The HOOT Reeder.

Just a note that the current MB option I have on my site for order is different than those pictured here. It has the same reed work as the GMs and it has a Sjoeberg comb. It does not involve any extra time/labor than the GMs as I order the combs completed and use mostly stock pieces to assemble (unless it is a classic MB).
However, Dick and I are working on details to make Sjoeberg Custom MB's available soon. These will be built to his specs by me and will be significantly more labor intensive as I will take on the comb work as well as several MB-specific modifications and added reed and reedplate work. Not only will these harps be amazing to play, but they will be absolutely stunning to look at and be true pieces of art.
***Edit: I know most of you didn't know who Dick was until I posted the comb review from Harmonicasessions.com, but he is a world-class builder out of Sweden. He has studied with the top of the top directly from Hohner...the same people who many of the premier US builders learned from. I know he sometimes lurks here, and my intentions aren't to add any pressure or embarrass him, but he is an unsung hero of the harmonica world. He insists he's not in position to be building harps like he used to, but he is amazingly inventive and dedicated to the advancement of the instrument.

I've learned so much from him. I consider him a mentor. His instruction is very well thought out.I started lessons with him On the third lesson I was overblowing. He hadn't really mentioned it before. He kind of snuck it in there while teaching me some customization. I have a version of his embossing tool which can emboss the full slot without removing the reed. He really knows his stuff!
Here is my interview with him. http://dfwhoot.blogspot.com/2010/03/harping-on-dick-sjoeberg.html

Between gigging, going out of town for a Christmas party, and then getting sick, I haven't been around the computer (nor have I done much email reading).
The MBD model is in production, but I don't have any in stock, nor will I be receiving any that won't be used for custom builds. I have a couple of GM combs still in stock. I don't have a timetable on the MBD combs for individual purchase as I am in need of quite a few for custom orders myself.
As a follow-up on the thread as originally posted, I've only been using the Sjoeberg combs on builds and not selling them off individually. I've used dymonwood, lamenent, corian, and pink ivory versions. They are absolutely wonderful combs, but require a fair amount of finishing work by Dick after being cut from the CNC machine.
Over the last several months, we have been working on moving towards faster production, which will probably result in using more materials like corian, as they generally require less finishing work.
Dick new they'd be popular. I knew they'd be popular. Neither of us knew that they would be this popular, though!
I am continuing exploring ways of producing the combs in the US, preferably by myself, but those in the know realize the extreme cost of starting up such a project - just the cost of the CNC machine and materials is easily $5,000-10,000.
There is a lot of math to play with before making any changes in production.
I get asked weekly for more pictures of the combs, completed harps, etc. I have a few days off after Christmas and will see what I can do. My wife has a DSLR and I have a photographer-friend who is going to show me how to use it, lol.
