I wanted to let everyone here know we are throwing a party Jan 15th @ 6pm to celebrate my new studio. I am cooking some good food and will be playing. I wanted to invite anyone on the forum who would like to come. It is a BYOB and your dancing shoes. I am going to video/record it as well. Hope to see some of you there! We are in the Columbus, Ohio area. There is a great B&B on our street if anyone wants to be able to get a bit high and stay over. You are welcome to stay in my studio. It has a full bath and central air/heat/bed. There may be some members of the Virginia harmonica club coming and I offered them the same. the only restriction for staying over is guests must be non smokers. I am highly allergic and don't want any kind of smoke traces getting into the mojo of the space.

I will be doing this gig as a trio. One of my old world reknowned austin bandmates is going to be there on bass/accordian/keys. I am excited to get to do some hand held, off the mic harp stuff with a real band behind me. I get to twist it up alot more than with the 1 man band set up. He is also a world class engineer and is going to help me record it all. Here is a link about him:

I will have a local drummer too that plays with his hands to keep the volume down. Here he is at my last house party.

My friend Sean Carney, who won the International Blues Challenge a few years ago may be there as well.

Walter, congrats on the studio and thanks for the invite. Sounds like a good time, but can't make it, this time.

A drummer who plays with his hands, amazing.

I do hope some members can make it. It is nice meeting people in the flesh. Frank is a good drummer. In the video you will notice no vocal amplification. the mic was for the recording but the recording came out crap. I had the levels to high and it overloaded with digital crackle so what you hear is just the camera mic. I have had lots of great drummers that can play quietly. Jimmy Carl Black, Katherine Stevens, Uncle John Turner, and Frank, all understand playing quietly with drive. That is a rare thing in todays world. Walter

Your studio sounds nicer than my apartment! Nice to see it's finished. I wish I could make it.

Hi nacoran: It is a self contained unit minus a stove, fridge. We designed space to add a stove island, fridge, washer/dryer so when we sell this place it will be billed as a 2 unit property. I spend most of free hours in it. It is a 40 year dream come true. It has 10 foot ceilings and a real good natural sound to it. I recorded this one christmas eve in it. I put on a suit and did three christmas video songs to myself. I am still suprised how happy I am playing in isolation. This would have been a death sentence to me 20 years ago. I needed to play live, to people. Go figure........ But I am real excited to put this party on. I am probably going to fire up my smoker and do some beef ribs. I learned Texas BBQ from Mr. Stubbs in Austin. The universe provides all we need if we get out of our way! I am learning this. Walter

here is the party this weekend. The one Adam and I briefly discussed is just an idea as of today. Walter

thanks! I am getting my studio set up for the party as soon as finish this note. Hopefully I will get a decent recording from it via my studio recording gear. If so, I will sync it up with the video(hard to mess that end up). Trying to record and play at the same time, with people there is hard. I will set all the recording levels low and hopefully won't go in the red line. Digital and red line = crackle. I have decided to never again post any videos that are using only the video camera mic. Those things destroy sound IMO and make most videos unlistenable. It is kind of like when access TV stations were big. Austin Access was a great station with much love and passion but their actual products sounded so bad it was hard to watch.

Here is an example of one. Fast Floyd was one of my best music friends. Sadly he is dead and this is the only known video of him. We played a lot of gigs and hung out together back in the SF Bay area. His spirit just directed me to post this video and I hope his spirit is with me tomorrow night. I tap into all the dead musical spirits I use to play with when I play. Walter
