Man, I hate this. Every once in awhile I can't play my way out of a paper bag. No matter what I play today I sound like crap. Yet I'm playing alot of the same stuff I always do. Anybody else ever have this problem?

yes it seems to be cyclical with me. Some days I feel I'm red hot and then the next, it's back to Oh Suzanna. Sometimes I can break through the wall sometimes I have to wait until the wall falls down and allows me through.
If you have any recordings of you playing where you think you excelled, play them through to remind yourself that you can actually do it. That's what I need to do, and quite often.

Yes I have that problem. I like to think it's just a plateau. Hopefully not followed up with a fullfledge home in the "valley of suckage". Sometimes taking time off helps me get out of the noncreative, noninspired harpin' . Or just trying to learn something completely new can work also....Like can I play for 10 minutes without going to the "well" of my tired old licks.

It happens in all sorts of walks of life. Sometimes people on the forum have talked about being in the zone, the same way athletes do. Well, sometimes you can get in a slump to. Just do what athletes do, change your socks, sacrifice a chicken, spin around three times, try again, and then hit the batting cage! :)

Get some Charlie McCoy books. They'll pull you in places you might not go but still bending and learning new stuff. The brain needs a little stimulation sometimes or a fifth of Jack. LOL ----------

Look what happened to Tiger Woods, number one golfer in the world for years and then he fell off his game. Seeing we're human beings, it's not likely any of us will be a 100% all the time. There's time to "suck" and time to "shine", hopefully most of us will shine more than we suck. Recording your playing is a great way to grade your abilities. I usually find fault with 90% of what I hear of myself recorded and it's the other 10% that keeps me coming back to play more harp.
