Nice and laid back. Groovy!! Thanks for sharing.

Next time why not try a different approach - 10 beers, 2 shots:)

Okay, I'm going to record a sober video later to replace this one. I can do the whole tune more justice than I did here. Thank goodness for auto-correct on my phone or u wouldn't be able to read any of this. There's a second verse for crying out loud. Ok, I'm going to bed now.............................

I am always asking greyowl for tabs and maybe they have become a crutch-but would love to try bye bye bird-your chord work is very good and that seems to be the backbone of bbb

SB will not channel through anyone who's had less than four beers and three shots - He told me himself the last time I channeled him. Then again TEN SHOTS? - I'm glad you woke up - though you may not have felt the same way at the time.

I have to say it was working for you. Really nice. You fell into that slippery when wet groove just right. You have a really nice voice too by the way - lets hear more.

Great stuff,Kyser. I enjoyed the chord work as I'm working on chords at the moment.
Can I ask what harp and key you were using?

Any New Year resolutions planned, mate?

Good morning, I hurt. Please know that I am not a drinker by any means. The last time I drank prior to last night was july 4th and that was a six pack, before then? New years 2010. I don't feel like divulging my reasons for last night. The point is, I was lit, uninhibited, willing to fuck up and what you see is what you get. I'm very much grown, and had an opportunity of calm in between otherwise stiff moments of constant responsibility. If some folks look down on me for getting hammered and acting a fool on YouTube, well that's just too bad, I promise it won't be the last time I do just that.

None taken tenbus... I felt good at the time, and will be back to good shortly. I do plan on recording another more complete version of this tune once I study all SBW's versions a bit more. Nearly all of them are different.

sloppy drunk-SBW I. one burbon, one scotch, one beer-john lee hooker. too many examples. impossible to list them all.

alcohol has figured largely in the life of every single bluesman period.

kyser is playing a blues while drunk. it's been done before. no need to scold him.

Nice work Kyzer! Trying to catch up from missing everything over Christmas. I loved it... I've goofed around with that song long enough myself. Your sweet version has inspired my to give it a decent go. Great job - could only be improved by corn liquor....

1d, 2b, 3b, 2b, 3b, 2b then 123draw while saying tah del dah dah (then quick 123blow hee tee) 123draw tah, exhale to blue third... repeat... hows that for tabs? :-)

Ive been listening to the subtleties in all his versions found on youtube in an effort to re-record what my drunken self did above, except to add a bit of variations to it all. (I suppose whiskey kept me from doing anything different) There's a house in gallatin, not to far from where i live, that looks eerily similar to the one in the video below. Im seriously thinking, very seriously, of making a copycat vid, complete with black and white film grain effects, just to have something to show the grandkids, when i have em...

i like the vid below the best of all the ones out there...something entrancing about the ditty aint it?

That one's good. I like this one cause of the closeup - the no hands harp in mouth - and how he suanters off when he's done. Sonny Boy doing this is about as beautiful as simple but nuanced music can get.

just a quick outbreath...its not really a full chord blow. i suppose you just gotta be in the rhythm.
the blue third im hitting goes right on the beat... tap your feet to it and you'll see what im saying.

I found the tab for bye bye bird in masters of the blues harp by glenn weiser its done in the key of G there are so many notes to play its probably easier to just try it yourself but can say 99% of it is in the first 4 holes of your C harp kyzer did a good job figuring it out

@Kyser or anyone who wants to answer:
Just for clarification - so I understand... isn't a "Blue 3rd" a draw note and only a draw note?

@groyster1 - Got it, but in the "tab" from Kyser (about 9 posts above) he states "...exhale to blue third..." so I was trying to figure out a blue 3rd with an exhale.

i exhale (quickly) into the harp after the chug part of the song, just a fraction of a second before i hit the blue note. It isnt necessary for the tune, i just do it to keep the breathing pattern consistent, and to get any leftover air out. plus, it keeps a sound coming out of the harp. Im a lip purser and Rice TB'd, so i had to come up with a way of keeping true to the TB sound. Sorry for the confusion.
