Looks like a beautiful country, too.
All the best for you and your move!

Very heart-felt piece!

Why did you decide to move? is it harmonica-related or are you starting a new life path.

congrats! :)

I hate Waltzing Matilda normally Christelle but your version with the recorder has changed all that for me now. Thank You. Good Luck in Oz. Will you change your name to Sheila?

Wow Christelle, you're really crazy good with the recorder. I didn't know one could kind of bend notes on one of those. I always thought of them as toy instruments they used in gradeschool to teach basic music. I'm sure your's is a professional grade one or something.

Having tried to make a recorder sound good I am in awe. All I get is shrill squeaks. That was beautiful.

Welcome to Sydney! I moved here about 20 years ago. Nice place; the main problem is it's bloody far away from the rest of the world.

@Oda: I've found the partner of my life out there, that's why I'm moving

@ Nacoran: the thing is with the recorder if you want to play it in an expressive way, like a low/tin whistle you've to play it not conventionally, sweeping the holes of the recorder, and blowing et bit more harder in order to add a bit of """saturation""" in the sound sometimes. Try it it quite easy to pick (I was 5 or 6 when I discover that)

@BronzeWailer: WOW 20 years ago, that's great. You know in a way France is far from everything too, and with today's standards, internet and the price of the plane tickets, nothing is impossible anymore...I would be more than happy to meet you, you can email me your phone number anytime (Ray a harmonica player who's living in Coogee beach has already made contact with me :-)

Hi Christelle> I'm 1000ks North of Sydney in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast. I was born in Sydney & love the harbour. Sydney or Melbourne are the best towns for music but plan on doing lots & lots of travel to many music Festivals all around the country.

Love your playing style.

Hey Christelle! Sounds like you have good taste in partners?
Me and my family live an hour north of Sydney in a beautiful coastal area.Theres enough music about to keep you interested over here, we may be geographically isolated ( methinks that is a bonus! ) but I will biasedly add it's the best place on earth!!
On behalf of all us Aussies, a big welcome!

Hi Christelle I'm certain you will enjoy Sydney. I was there last year with my wife for a few days then drove down to Melbourne (another great Oz city) where we have family. Really enjoyed Sydney and we stayed near the Harbour. Took this photo of the harbour and when I'm feeling low in the middle of winter in the UK I put this on my PC screen lean back in my chair and ahhh, all is well.

G'day Cristal,
I came out here from Scotland in the '70's and have never regretted it.
I thought your playing was beautiful.
Like all the other downunder posters I'd like to welcome you to our country.

Hey Christelle
Sydney is my home town (Eastern Suburbs). If you need repairs on your amplification systems or mic's I have a electronic work shop specializing in pro audio. If you havent decided where to live,Glebe,Paddington,Surry Hills,Bondi,Bondi Junction,Newtown, Marrickville and most of the eastern suburbs are cool.
I'll hit you up on Face Book and pass you some info on a jam I run in the heart of the city.
Look forward to listening to you and meeting.

G'day Christelle, in my earlier post I did not have the opportunity to hear your beautiful playing of our 'true' national anthem. It was 5am and I like to listen loud and I would not have been popular with the rest of our mob. Great rendition.

But, you will now have to ditch the recorder and learn the Didgeridoo. Only joking, as I loved your recorder. Now all my grandchildren all have recorders that they never use so I will have to do a deal with them and grab one.

I have to agree with Blocker that whilst Sydney is a great place the best place to be is Queensland. Anyway most anyone who is good in anything always ends up in Qld. They say the 'Cream' always rises to the top! Now if I have inflamed some southerners I surely have the full support of Blocker?

Christelle,

There's a good monthly blues jam in Newtown, which is close to the Sydney city centre. I recommend you check it out, at the Botany View Hotel:

@Ray: hey mate you're crazy

@Tenbus: wow it's a long time, 40 years...are you a diatonic player?

@Diggsblues: thanks a lot in fact this is the same technique used on the low/tin whistle

@Gray: Yes I've seen your shop (video) . I can't wait to meet you and all the musicians at the jam, that's very sweet thank you.

@Aussiesucker: I genuinely think that the instrument is JUST an instrument, this is what the musician is doing that is really giving the life to it. This is probably why I don't fit into into the blues completely, because I want to play music but not being tied to the cliché of this music. My partner is looking in Oxford Street she said it's nice place, I've no idea about Queensland, thanks for the tip anyway.

@EV630: thank you very much i've saved the link you've provide me...See you there one day or another

Salut Christelle,

I came here in 1978 - a long time ago, as you say. 10 years before that I was in Paris with the International Socialists. "Sous les paves, c'est la plage!"
I am a diatonic player - about Intermediate on the "Gussow Scale". It's great and inspirational to hear you and others expressing yourselves through this instrument.
Safe journey.

Darlo, Paddington, Surrey Hills... Great area but dangerous at night if you don't know what you're doing. Drugs and so on.

Lots of great restaurants on Oxford street and King street - best Char Kway Teow at the Singapura Noodle House... Terrific butcher near there, Hudson's... art shops, book shops, big gay scene - that's where the L&G Mardi Gras goes and that's a big party weekend each year. You might want to check out Coogee if you like a swim - not too far from the city.

I'm not in Oz and won't be for a few years. May see you at a blues jam in 2012...

G'day Cristal,
Welcome to Sydney.
I've lived in Sydney all my life.
Eastern Suburbs for most of it, then moved to the western suburbs a number of year ago.
It would be good to catch up in the near future.
Rob
