Greg? Anyone? A friend gave me a 1950's Voice of Music ceramic mic (and a 704 Kay amp) to cut my amplified teeth on.
1/4" plug on the mic.
My questions are:(as I want to be able to use the mic to acoustically record on into the P.C.)
- Can use simply adapt the 1/4" plug down to the 3.5mm and plug it straight into my P.C. sound card without any electronic voodoo? Actually, I am doing that now, but the recording quality pretty much sucks. I do better with my old webcam mic.
- Is the Voice of Music mic suitable for simple acoustic harp recording? (I think originally that mic design was for reel to reel tape recorders?)
p.s. I'm getting what I feel is) pretty decent dirt on a well-cupped mic on the Kay amp.
Thanks...

I have one of those mics too, so am interested in any replies to this post.
I believe that high impedance is right for straight into a PC, but it will be very clean sounding.
I've found that VOM (Sonotone) mic easy to cup, but not too dirty sounding through my amp, especially if compared to a vintage Shure CM element. But it makes a good, indestructible, backup mic. The attached cord is a little short though. ----------

I have no idea, but I'm going to get myself a Yeti USB microphone for computer recording as soon as I have the cash. (Amazon has a good deal on it, marked down about 30%.
