Chris was a big fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

He was always talking about throat singing.

As I recall he was fond of sitar like Ustad Shahid Parvez as well. I never did get a chance to ask him what specific traditional Japanese music he liked, I listen to a bit but I doubt he listened to the same.

Quite enjoyable stuff.

I know Chris could throat sing himself. Throat singing is all about mouth resonance. Makes sense.

:( I actually learned how to do throat singing by watching videos quite recently. I was going to surprise him and show it off to him sometime but now I'll never get a chance...

Throat singing?

I'm sorry.

If that "Tuvan Throat Singing" video is an example of "throat singing"..............I find it about as gross and despicable as rap.

I have a vacuum cleaner that produces more melodic sounds.

I'm sorry...........I don't care who liked it. It is not "music" to MY ears. I do find it amusing that a banjo like instrument is used. It's an equally disgusting instrument.

Just my opinion.

Mandolin doesn't = bluegrass.
