Can we remember that identifying (real or imagined) wrongs in the actions of others does not entitle us to throw personal insults at them on a public harmonica forum?
And...
Can we spare a thought for those who freely give their time to moderate and make this place more pleasant for us? I fear that every insult thrown is another headache for them.
Please?
Pretty please?
Cherries on top?
EDIT: Any decorations you want?

I kinda like that comparison... "and hope for some aces here and there" Thanks. I dig it.
@captainbliss: Agreed totally. I think all should learn the English way ofdoing this. The US guys don't get it BTW... ----------

Reading the Harpgear post should clarify everything Toddlegreene.
Not everybody is like that of course, but maybe the reaction to the post was a bit hysterical, whiny and violent?

@jim..painting with an awfully broad brush aren't you? I would think that such a narrow view was below you. I get it.......that does not mean I agree with you. paul ----------

Yes, That's like me saying Russians don't do this or that. Pretty general denouncement, methinks, as well as an unfair stereotype. Stereotype=bad.
Camilo-I complete avoided chiming in the pissing match that was the harpgear thread. And reading it doesn't clear up or justify Jim's accusations. ----------

Good question, Will. Thanks for asking it. I'm distressed, frankly, by what happens when I step aside from this forum for a few days. I'm in the Netherlands right now with limited internet access and it pains me to have to step in and pull this forum back on track.
Buddha has exhausted his warnings and is no longer a member of this forum.
Joe Lee: Please reread the forum creed. "Nasty hits," as you put it, are plainly in violation of it. This forum isn't a neighborhood bar; the tolerance level for disrespectful talk is lower here. This is a place for passionate but respectful exchanges of information centered on the blues harmonica and the larger world of the blues. Amazingly, some people can't seem to take that simple creed to heart.
I've just approved a dozen new members. Please try to be nice to them. Thanks.

Okay, I gotta say it. I hardly ever understand how you decide who to ban after some fray. Maybe you think the creed is simple, but it sure seems like what gets by and what doesn't is random.
Maybe that is why people keep offending the creed. Your interpretation of the creed is so uneven and nonsensical.
Off with their heads!!

Buddha is a hero. Ban the jackass who posted Brian's circuit information and then used your site to steer traffic to it.
You should use this forum to instill some respect for other people's hard-won efforts, not as a transit point for people to rape the guys who are putting in the hard yards.

Not meaning to offend anyone, sorry. Just was a witness of such little cultural clashes.
What I meant is - sometimes british guys try to pick on someone with very fine (subtle) irony - but actually with a sarcastic meaning. Americans are more straightforward and sometimes don't get this sarcasm and push on. No offence. Sorry, just wrote that not clear enough in my original post.
By the way yes, the Russians too don't get many things! All because of the difference in thinking and expressing oneself. Not better, not worse, just different.
@Adam: thank you, thank you, thank you. You'll see that in the long run you will only gain from this decision. ----------

No worries, Jim-it's the holidays! But, as your penance, you need to ship some of the GOOD vodka that doesn't get exported to me.;-) ----------

@toddlegreene: good vodka is all imported here too... I live in Bulgaria :) People drink home-made Rakija here (nice aroma!). It can be arranged by the way... only not sure if postal service has anything against shipping small amounts of alcohol w/o this thingumajig on the bottle cap... you know, home-made :)
Read captainbliss comments in the astrology thread. AWESOME examples of what I actually meant. Bliss was simply great. So thin and well-mannered and light - but if you read between the lines... devilish :D And Chris didn't catch the irony (at least I had that impression).
There were other great examples like that - but I can't find any because it was buried under newer threads. ----------

Frankly, I don't get it. Chris speaks in a language that is not for everyone: blunt honesty. While I would have to say that the intellectual property principles involved on the other thread are murky at best, the basic idea seems pretty clear: Chris was speaking out for a friend and colleague's business interests (and Brian Purdy seems to me to be a great guy with great products who always goes out of his way to help people, so why was it necessary to do things the long way?).
As for the thread that apparently got Chris booted in the end, while astrology may or may not be silly, psuedoscience etc., it's not a religion by any definition that I understand. As far as I can tell, that's the forum creed: no talking about religion.
If Chris was booted for what was interpreted as "flaming, insulting, or otherwise impugning the intelligence or good intentions of [his] fellow board members", I suppose that's a judgment call... but it happens all the time on this forum, on nearly every thread that goes beyond ten posts (although not from me -- I think I always play nice).
Anyway, it is obviously Adam's forum, and I think he's worked pretty hard to be fair-handed and even-tempered. But I just don't understand why people can't just take each other with a shaker of salt when needed, and live and let live? This forum will definitely be diminished by the absence of information and insight that Chris provided.
