Ok everyone,as you may or may not know I love the look of the b-Rad harps(As per my last post). Amazing piece of art. But Ive never heard how it sounds..I know everyone that owns one says its a great harp, but. I'd still like to hear one for my self. If any of you could maybe post a video or sound clip of you playin that harp,I'd much appreciate it. So very interested in this harp & will buy one soon,if I like the sound. Which Im sure I will ;)

Thanks all,
Jimmy

Hey Jimmy

Brandon Bailey did a sweet review on it:

I'm planning on doing my own Vblog on them too. The deceptive thing about making a decision on how an instrument "sounds" by watching/listening to a video review is that you might be sold moreso on the players ability when reviewing the instrument than to how it actually sounds. Taking into consideration that the quality of Audio recording will also impact your opinion of the sound.

The only real way of being able to "hear" any instruments sound is to play it yourself and be the judge - which sucks (pun intended) when you're a harp player because that "try before you buy" option isn't really there :(

My B-Rad in C has been shipped! I'm just waiting for it to make it through customs to me, which always takes a bit. If you want, I'll post some high-quality audio clips comparing it to a marine band as soon as I get it. That would probably be more helpful in hearing the actual sound of it.

I don't know if this will work as I've not used dropbox before. I'm not in any way a professional player. Here is an audio file with me playing a short bit on three different Bb harps, the last being a B-radical.

I know the instrument does not make the player-----practice, practice and practice makes the player. I just happen to be "equipment oriented" enough that the top line stuff motivates me to practice-----I have no excuse. The instrument WILL do it--can I? $180 for a "top shelf" harp is exactly 10% of a guitar "worth consideration". What a deal!!!!!

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD DUDE!

FINALLY!

After post after post on all different forums where i constantly come across people whinging and moaning about how their favourite 2 dollar harp has "gone through the roof!" in price and people whinge and moan about custom harps being too expensive FINALLY someone has actually made one of the most valid comparisons OF ALL TIME.

$180 for a top shelf harp is a bargain - In Oz, $180 will buy you a pretty average (shit) guitar.

Want a decent guitar - you spend much MUCH more than a Harmonica equivalent.

Having said that, I just got a couple of Manji's, looking forward to giving them a bash!

Ok, here's another comparison audio file.

Amateur playing of a piedmont blues 3$ harp, a suzuki bluesmaster and a B-radical. All in key of C.

This B-radical I just got, so it is FPT 10.3 instead of the 9.0 on my Bb harp from above. I don't know exactly what that means, but for comparison's sake I include it.

Just playing a few octaves, then just the three hole draw through its bends, then an attempt at the 6 overblow.

You know listening back, I kind of agree it's hard to hear a difference, especially on the first Bb harps. I'll tell you for sure, there's a big difference in the air required playing them.

I have a set of custom Promasters, a set of Bushman Delta Frosts and a set of MBs, thy all sound different. My B Rad is similar in tone to a Special 20 to my ear, plays easier than any of my harps. Id' describe the tone as neutral.
