Somehow I ended up on stage at an open mic for three songs with no band. It came out ok. I recorded it with the mic on my camera. Mostly I just wanted to get used to singing in front of people again. There are mistakes (lots, including not being able to find the key for two verses on the last song) but mostly I'm just having fun with some songs I've been working on. Comments are welcome about anything from arrangements to stage presence. Someone started snapping for a few seconds. I may steal that. The host had a lot of echo on things. (Yes, my vocals were out of key for the first part of the third song. I started singing it an octave to low and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Au contraire - you are obviously not tone deaf. You've got a really nice voice. And it's hard to stay on key without any backing instuments. ----------

Thanks. They had a bit of echo on it. I usually have a hard time with clipping the ends of lines. The echo seemed to help. I think I should have used the harp as a pitch pipe for the last song. I think next time my car song is going to have finger snapping and I think for the Wet Dog Blues I'm going to encourage audience participation when it comes time for the howls and barks! I screwed up a few words too. I changed the line 'My engine is running tight' to 'my hemi is running tight' and I keep getting it mixed up. I started to sing the first chorus once instead of the second. I was really impressed with how clear the mic on the camera picked everything up.
We are going to add a female vocal to the first song singing an echo a half a line behind the main vocal when we record.

Yeh Nate that was pretty good! Finger snaps are good but sometimes interfere with good cupping technique however, but sometimes this sacrifice is worth it for some percussion. How bout a foot drum or tamb.? and Bonedoggie's right, you have a good voice my friend!
