I thought it would be cool to learn Little Drummer Boy in 1st position playing octaves, to perform during the season. Starting on 1-4 blow the rhythm you can play is very cool for this song...slapping the two center holes for the perfect drum part.

Works great until you get to the highest note, the first rum as you decent back down.

So when I tried playing playing single notes starting on 4 blow, I found the missing and important note to be an overblow. Fine if I'm playing single notes, but playing the OB out of the right side while doing a split is out of my league.

Not much on youtube. May not be a good way. Anyone play this song doing a tongue block rhythm?

I bet you can fake the note, or change the melody slightly and make it work.
Mine is the only responce, nobody on here likes straight except me & you I guess ;)

@steve j
I did try hitting it hard and keeping the note short if thats what you mean by faking it. Works pretty good.

I love 1st position in blues or whatever. I knew I had to play backing last week on Rockin Around the Christmas Tree and found that I could play parts of all 5 chords in the song with either splits or double stops.

I bought a Mitch Kashmar CD a couple years ago and fell in love with 1st position blues.

Just skip the split for that note. Would a 12-holer have the note?
