Just received an email newsletter (Dec. 1) from Harrison with some company updates. At least they've finally woken up to the lack of communication issue with this newsletter - makes me feel a lot better (they are currently working on C harps and soon expanding to other keys - come on D!!).
"COOL THREADS: We recently purchased a high speed CNC tapping machine. This allows us to thread reedplates much faster."
"Production is starting to run fairly smoothly. We're able to accomplish a lot more because we have a lot more trained craftsmen in the company right now. Things are moving more quickly and it's only going to get faster."

I really appreciated the newsletter because it actually tells us whats going on in some detail. One new person on the C harp production line after many months of training with Brad, plus Joe Spiers and Richard Sleigh working on the other keyed harps. Glad I have an A and D on order along with the C. I have 're-set' my patience button - for now anyway. most of the newsletter not including 'testimonials' : Newsletter Dec. 1, 2010 YOUR B-RADICAL UPDATE THE SITUATION We are behind. When we started, we knew there would be strong demand for a new breed of 21st-Century harmonica, but we had no idea just how overwhelming that response would be. Our B-radical is an entirely hand-built instrument and requires a great degree of skilled labor to create. When production began in Feb. 2010, we didn't realize how long it would take to train people to build harmonicas to our standards of perfection. PROGRESS WE HAVE MADE We have continually added and trained new employees, since production began 10 months ago. Initially, founder Brad Harrison was performing all of the highly skilled labor. As employees moved into various positions on the assembly line, production gradually increased. Last month, when employees were ready to step into the most highly-skilled positions - reed-action setting and tuning - we saw a large increase in production. By November 11, our monthly total had already eclipsed our previous best production month ever (October). Our staff will only get faster in the coming weeks. WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW Our Rockford staff is primarily focusing on the Key of C. We recently hired two of the world's best harmonica customizers, Joe Spiers and Richard Sleigh to help us increase production by performing the most highly-skilled and nuance-intensive work on the other key harmonicas. We also recently purchased a high speed CNC tapping machine, which allows us to thread reedplates much faster, along with a YAG laser, giving us the ability to engrave in-house and eliminate what has been our most significant vendor-related delay. Production will see continued increase in December. In January, we will have an accurate ETA for everyone's instruments.
MEET THE STAFF Jessica Reed Department Tuning/action setting Jessica was hired in Feb. as the first production employee at Harrison Harmonicas. Through much hard work and intensive training, she has earned the most highly-skilled position at HH, tuning and action setting. "I started at station one, learning how to attach reeds to the reedplate and align them," Jessica said. "Brad was educating me on the chromatic scale, the different notes and keys. Each time, I had to score perfect on a test before I could pass to the next station. It was all about perfection. "I've worked at every step of the process. That's really important, it gave me a full understanding of how a harmonica has to be in terms of Harrison Harmonicas' perfection. It prepared me for stepping into this position. This is the most skilled job at the company, it will always be, the only person in the company who touches a harmonica after me is Brad. It’s an honor to be able to do this, these are pretty big shoes to fill. The instruments have to be perfect. "I look back at how it was when I started, we have come through a drastic change for the good. It's hard to believe it was just Brad and me on the line back in February - we've come so far. "Production is starting to run fairly smoothly. We're able to accomplish a lot more because we have a lot more trained craftsmen in the company right now. Things are moving more quickly and it's only going to get faster," she said. Recent Developments THE NEW HH LASER - No, it's not like anything you may have seen in "Star Wars," but our new YAG laser will eliminate what has been our most significant vendor-related delay! We can now engrave our coverplates in-house and make production more consistent. THE DREAM TEAM: Harrison Harmonicas recently hired Joe Spiers and Richard Sleigh, a move that will help us significantly increase production while bringing some of the world's best harmonica minds together! MILESTONE: We rounded a major production corner in November with employees in our most highly-skilled positions completing their extensive training and stepping up to the assembly line. EVER UPWARDS: November was our highest-production month ever. We beat our previous highest monthly total (October's) in just the first ten working days of the month! COOL THREADS: We recently purchased a high speed CNC tapping machine. This allows us to thread reedplates much faster. ----------
