This is from an open mic near where I live. Since I don't sing, I'm always looking for someone that knows a blues song or two.
Even though this is a 12 bar blues song, I can hear the influences of other genres. The kid on electric guitar is 20 yrs old and been singing classic country on stage since he was 8. His guitar work here gets a little wild, but pretty good considering he doesn't play much blues. When he starts singing is when you hear his classic country influence.
The guy on acoustic guitar is Tim Stafford of Grammy Award winning bluegrass band "Blue Highway". His playing is great, but I can hear the bluegrass coming thru on his solo.
Do you guys hear the same thing or is it me with my head buried here in hillbilly land....lol
That's me trying to play blues harmonica. Any critique and suggestions are welcome. Heck, that's how we learn.
Oh yeah. I bought one of those $49 JT-30 mics as a spare for my Ultimate 57. I'm trying it out here with my Double Trouble amp.

I like your intro. Very cool. Work on your 1 draw, move your tongue further down, it's kinda 'quacky' on that 1 draw.

I think he needs to turn down the gain on his amp, it's just overpowering and...yeah.

Duane, maybe just a little bluegrass to my ears the recording isn't that great. Good to see you out playing. You showed a lot of ability, good job. I like the way you make eye contact with the other players. I've played with others that are looking off in la la land and not paying attention to the other musicians and mess things up.
I didn't spring for the double trouble amp but I called Brian to day and ordered a HG2. It's my Christmas to me gift. I'm glad Adam had one at HCH or I might not have bought it with out trying it my self.
Have a good time on stage&maybe I'll see ya next year at HCH 2011,
Mike

Tell that guitar player to TURN DOWN!!!!!
He thinks he is cool, but believe me he ain't. His vocals sound insincere too. If he's been playing as long as you say, he hasn't learned a damn thing.
Your harp playing is very good and nice to hear, especially that high end stuff. Obviously you're the best of that lot. (get your own group together..this pack doesn't have a clue and they're holding you back)

THanks for the comments. The room is big and has a roar so the sound quality is off a bit.
Thanks Mike! All of Brian's amps are great so I know you will be pleased.
My plan is to be at Hill Country again. Too much fun not to go!

Good stuff Duane, and I dig that there's a cajon player. I just bought one yesterday for my son, but I'll probably have to give it a thorough 'ops check' first...

Other than a twang in teh guitarist's voice, I didn't feel the bluegrass vibe...his guitar tone might have helped squash that, too. Go grab the treble knob on his amp and turn it down!

Thanks Todd. He brings his cajon every week now and it adds a lot....sounds like it won't be long until we hear a duet form you and your son.

The acoustic guy is bluegrass rooted and I know you hear country music in the kids voice. I guess Ititled it wrong.
