Curtis Salgado is playing Thursdays at the Blue Monk. They are acoustic shows with guitar player Alan Hager. I am looking forward to this.

In my opinion, one of the best voices for expressing both 'the blues' as well as emotion of any kind.

Salgado is the real deal. Hell of a nice guy, as well.

Don't offer him a drink, though......

Tin,
Tonight? Is there a cover? That pair rocks.
Buzadero, totally uncalled for.
Reading some of the posts in here, sometime I'm ashamed I'm a member

Tonight and every Thursday... $10 cover. 8 pm.

Walking distance from my house! How cool is that?

In fact, if you helped raise any money for his medical expenses as I did, he will tell you "you own a piece of my liver". I didn't find Buzadero's comment offensive.

You are in for a treat though - Curtis plays a mean harp, but his vocals are just freaking amazing.

Amen, bruddah. Back when those benefits were going on, I shook down several friends who had "benefitted" by hearing his cd's at my house or in the car. I rode that money up to the second benefit and hand delivered it myself. That was one of the truly worthy causes.

Greg,
So, let me get this right. If you raised money for a person it gives you license to then mock them? Many of us in Portland helped Curtis with expenses, and yes, he does make lite of it himself. That doesn't mean others should.
Personally, it's just not how I roll. It serves no purpose other than to demean.

And thanks Tin, its not too far from my house either!

For those that know Curtis - do you know how he feels about the whole Blues Brothers thing? I know he and Belushi were friends and he was probably the biggest influence on the whole Blues Brothers act.

Is he proud to have been the original Blues Brother? Did they really rip off his act? If so was he OK with that? or was it more of a mentoring thing?
