Has anybody out there heard of making a mic using guitar pickups ???

Piezo pickups would make sense - aren't they just mini crystal elements?
Dunno how effective it would be though.

No - I've used headphones plugged into a mic input though.

Well, unless you put the pickups inside a harmonica with steel reeds, it ain't gonna work. Guitar pickups work as a magnetic field is disturbed by the vibrating string - but as for THAT idea, yes, someone has done that - saw it at SPAH. An electronic harmonica reed plate, with real reeds, that actually sensed the reed movement.

Thanks for the input y'all.. I've been experimenting with making my own mics with different elements,thought about pickups in a glass enclosure.Thanks again.
