For all of you that enjoy the freedoms you have, today is the day to make sure you thank a veteran. There's a parade here by the WW2 museum, and I'm hoping to go shake hands with some WW2,Korean War vets and any others I can.
I did this last year, but it certainly bears repeating. From one veteran to another:Thank You for my freedom.
Louisiana Air National Guard, retired 159th Fighter Wing Jet Mech on F-15 fighters
P.s. Do any of you in other countries have an equivalent of our Veterans Day? How many of you served your countries in the military? ----------

I led lessons with my students yesterday and the the result was them writing each other two notes to findand thank at least two veterans today. I know I am very fortunate. Thank you.

Cool, Nick-some great memorabila and good memories for you. I bet you heard plenty of stories growing up. I can sit and listen to old war stories all day. You have every reason to be proud. ----------

My Dad, granddads, great grandpa and great uncles all served and are vets from WW1 through Vietnam.
My humble thanks (belated) to all who've offered their lives in service to their country. ---------- Shane

Todd,
11 Nov is Remembrance Day in Australia - based on the treaty signing at 11am on 11 Nov that ended WWI.
The main day is ANZAC Day, which commemorates a battle in Turkey in WWI. The landing was 25 Apr 1915 at Gallipoli Cove, and 25 April is Australia's big day of remembrance. Its getting bigger every year (both in Australia and at Gallipoli), despite there being no WWI vets left alive. There is a large Turkish presence at many ANZAC Day ceremonies.
Cheers
