Ok all, I know that its a bit hard to brake it down to just one player..God knows there's been to many GREAT harp players over the years. So.. give me your two favorite. Maybe that'll make it a bit easier ;) Im going with Sonny Boy Williamson II & Little Walter. And I cant even begin to 1 & 2 them. So now its your turn.. who are they ?
I prefer to think that the list is comprised of "the usual suspects" it's the order that's the question....but then i suppose...that means YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!!!!
The list would be too long for me because I would be seperating my list by music genres and blues would be only just one of them. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
@ Hondo I dont think Howlin' Wolf is a bad choice at all. I'd have to say Howlin' Wolf is 3rd on my list,Sometimes simplicity is just better. And I get what your all sayin' but Im stickin to the 2 I posted ;-) You guys got some names posted Ive never heard of..looks like I'll be doin some homework. Thanks guys.
Chris Michalek, Adam Gussow, Emile D'Amico/Seth Hoelzman/Fred Rider/Buzz Krantz, David Barrett, any other Philly harp player I've jammed with, & lastly only able to name one I'd say Howard Levy.

mark ford has popped up twice and I have a very old vinyl charles ford band where mark ford was a very young harp player muddy waters called him another little walter what a compliment
How many harp players did Muddy call "another Little Walter" ? I'll bet when Walter was'nt playing with him,he said that M***h*r F**k*R,ain't no Little Walter.
For me it has to be Nat Riddles,actually.. If I listen a lot to one harp-player I often get tired and put him away for a while.. But Nats stuff never get boring for me.
Well,Ive taken a listen to Kim Wilson..Im really liking his sound. Good voice too. Am I right in thinkin this is the same guy that has yt videos, lessons & such?
Definitely Big Walter, I never get sick of listening to him. Personally I don't understand why he is overshadowed by Little Walter. Have a good time and Hard Hearted woman are a couple of my favourites. Technically though, I think none of them come close to Jason Ricci, except maybe John Popper.

So, diletto, which out of Christelle and Natacha is your all time favourite harp player? ---------- Andrew, gentleman of leisure, noodler extraordinaire.
Gary Primich in the blues mode and here he is being interviewed by Dave Barret who I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of weeks ago.
Gary died, quite recently, but he has a great selection of cd's to remember him by and as far as I am concerned there is no-one with tastier chops or phrasing and a really original soulful sound
