I just had an email from Carlos informing me that he'll be competing in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in early February.

Hot damn!

Brandon and I had already talked about putting on some sort of mini-showcase or maybe just having a get-together in a hotel room. I've asked Carlos to be part of that, and I suspect he will. I haven't seen him since the mid-1990s, when we hung out for an afternoon when Satan and Adam were playing Toronto.

So mid-South harp folk, including N.O.L.A. folk: start thinking about making your reservations.

Good news for Memphis! Make sure someone tapes it for us far flung folks!

That is exciting. Maybe this is the year I'll get there. BTW, in order to compete, you have to be sponsored by a blues society that's afffiliated. Which one is sponsoring Carlos?

Maybe we Canadians will win again this year (Matt Anderson -solo/duo category 2010).
