I uploaded almost all the lacking songs from our Turkish-Finnish Lazer-Klezmer-Riot-Blues-album we released last March with Ataturk Band to our myspace.
The new tracks include a classic klezmer standard Araber Tanz totally abused, you have a car chase-influenced beatboxical blues groove "Taksim Politzai", and a fresh version of the title track Anatolia Beat, which is mainly about harmonica and Turkish lute improvising furiously.
I invite y'all to check them out.

@tolga7t: Merhaba! It all began more than 3 years ago, when my mate returned from Istanbul and brought a small cura sized baglama. We ended up busking with that and a harmonica. The sound was raw, but we started to find common grounds somewhere between blues and anatolian scales that are readily available on a baglama.
He also bought a portrait of Ataturk. One day I was looking a at the picture thinking: "That's exactly how I want to look when I'm old." There's also this juxtaposition between his politics and our music: Like Ataturk combined East and West, we are trying to do exactly that it in our music.
I don't know, in the end the name is a bit strange, and we've been thinking of changing it every now and then. We are not political at all. Most Turks seem to love the name, though: we get new friend requests from Turkey all the time.
We are 100% Finns, yeah. Actually I live in Istanbul right now, getting to know Turkish music culture and studying... Nerede oturuyorsunuz?

Like it or not, with the name 'Ataturk' you are political.
Look into it.

I live in Istanbul, I know exactly how political it is. And that is the problem. Maybe the only political statement we want to make is that if Turkish people have Ataturk's pictures and signatures in every office, classroom and car rear window, the name can as well be put anywhere, even for a Finnish band's title.
But as I said, Turks seem to like it. And rest of the world doesn't seem to care. Music is what matters though.
