Popped into Costas Coffee House on Sat. and ordered two tall lattes. Everything was fine until I casually picked up the tray (which must had been sabotaged by the staff by wetting the underside of the tray). Anyway the tray jerked, and I struggled with the dilemma of two lattes heading of the tray in opposite directions.
Now it’s a difficult balancing trick to pull off……….and needless to say I didn't manage it. I looked around accusingly for someone to blame, but no-one in sight - all diving for cover I suppose from the flying shards of broken glass and scalding hot coffee. I gamely absorbed the brunt of the explosion and tried to maintain some dignity as 30 pairs of eyes simultaneously gave me their very best WTF look.
Briefly considered breaking the tension by whipping out the old harmonica and giving them a rendition of Coffee Blues but the crowd looked ugly and I didn’t want to upset them further. O the shame:(
