I'm more interested in the reliability of that button they have added... no idea where in the word it can be attached... ---------- www.truechromatic.com
Doh! I totally wanted to play with magnets with steel reeds. Someone told me they had and it didn't do anything.
Pretty cool though. And I wonder if good old Richter is the best tuning then. It would be interesting to see what effects you could get with other tunings.
I also wonder if you could mount the magnets more like buttons along the top or bottom to get individual notes.
They seem to have some fun with some wacky ideas over at Turbo.
I wonder if it will effect reed life, or rather, if it could effect reed life if the set it up too. It seems you could use thinner reeds and put them in the 'bent' position and have them be more rigid. Or when they get it on both, you could essentially have one harp cover 2 keys without having to change position. Or you could increase the magnet strength and create magnetic low tuned harps! The only flaw in their plan is they already announced they are working on a better one that will do both blows AND bends. For that price I'll wait for that one.
edit: and what will having those magnets next to microphones do?
