Of course Little Walter owns that word.... If someone will tell me how to post a picture I can show the proof.

So sorry Zack. Your "proof" is merely evidence. I have the PROOF, not evidence (which I will neatly demonstrate when I someone shows an old dog how to post a picture on this thing)

thank you Stickman for those instructions. Here is the proof..this proof is more powerful than any "evidence" from a web encyclopedia site. LOL....(I love dropping a soft con on the unsuspecting ones.)

There is also evidence from the OED which I believe to be the most incredible source there is. He was merely the dude who played the song. He didn't even name it. I think I win my prize, now.

Shoot, Joe Lee, I'll go all in anytime to provoke a revelation like that from you--that's some poster. I think $1.25 admission in the early 1950s works out to eight or ten dollars in today's cash. That 8:30 start time, were there opening act(s), or did Walter come on then and finish by midnight and action in town shifted to smaller places or afterhours clubs after that? You've fronted plenty of shows yourself since then, so I am curious about anything you recall of how Little Walter ran a show in his prime.

to htownfess: Remember please, I was only 15-16 years old when I was seeing these shows here in Atlanta, so as with all old people, memory can fade a little. And I never saw Walter again after 1955. But I recall a lot of it. There would always be two "main shows" for the star. And other acts surrounding him/her. Usually here in Atlanta there would be on the same bill...Piano Red, local DJ and singer Zilla Mays, a vocal group called The Cashmeres,(they had a hit on Mercury called "My Sentimental Heart") a shake dancer called "Miss Wiggles", "Guitar Hutch" (who I ended up working with a few years later at classy places like the "Weenie Wonder Bar" on Simpson St. and "Shrimp Bowl #2" on Mcdaniel St. and the "Battle Tavern" on Chestnut St.) And Austell Allen's band. And a comic called "Cootie Boo Boo" who's real name was Calvin Farmer. "Snake" and his girls from the 81 theater would drop in also. Also on the bill, trying to follow Walter around like a kid, would be my old blues battle combatant "Doctor Harmonica Zack" who was pretty good himself..until I dropped that chromatic on him. He had a record out on the NRC label called "Sneaky Dan" and he was like the cock of the walk around town. So, the shows were full of acts...some working for nothing but exposure, trying to hustle some tips or a few drinks. These things were put together by an Atlanta promoter named B.B.Beamon who lived down on Auburn Ave.just about across the street from where the King Center is today near the old Royal Hotel. Sorry to go on with this long winded diatribe but you seemed interested, etc etc etc. Regards.
