I have recently been suffering from pain in the hand I think due to repetitive use of computer and video gaming.
Anyone else got this and any remedy. Using ice pack helps, but just not stretching the tendon is the best but for how long?

Yeah you just gotta get the swelling down and let it rest. If scar tissue forms on a tendon (if that is what is causing your pain) then it won't ever get back to it's full strength and likelihood of paid returning from regular use is high. If it is nerve inflammation or compression of the nerve then you just need to completely immobilize it and take tylenol to reduce the inflammation. I would see your doctor though if you are having numbness or tingling and if the pain gets progressively worse.

I get this a lot. Sometimes it's the left--sometimes the right. For me it seems to come from playing the guitar. The best thing I have found for it, besides an ice pack, is to wear one of those bowling glove kind of braces. There is one I have that works for either hand--you just wear it for a while to partly immobilize the wrist and things get a chance to heal up.
Sometimes I have to stop playing regular guitar or just use my electric for a few days too--and I'm learning more slide stuff, since it's easier on the finger motion. . . ----------

Ice it down, then once the inflammation is down for a few days do GENTLE stretching exercises. If the problem persists see a doctor earlier rather than later. MAL, I don't think Tylenol treats inflammation. It will help with the pain though. Ibuprofen, Aspirin or any of the NSAIDS will help with the inflammation. If it gets real bad your doctor can give you a cortisone shot. I've had lots of chronic tendon problems over the years. I went through several months of PT for tennis-ball elbow (not tennis elbow, I was just throwing the ball against the wall). I've had problems with my wrists and my ankles too. I can't use game controllers without things flaring up. Make sure you don't over ice it. That seems to make it worse too. If the pain isn't real point specific make sure it's tendinitis and not arthritis. All the advice for arthritis is just about the opposite. I needed surgery for an arthritic shoulder just before my 30th birthday. I'm better now. I haven't given in to the urge to throw a tennis ball against the wall for years. :)
