Ok, so I got myself a Low F Marine Band today, and I want to take the covers off, but instead of nails mine has screws. I've got a screw driver that 'fits' but I can't get enough torque to get them to spin. Although I wouldn't be devastated if the comb gets chewed up, since I'm taking it off to replace it, I'd still rather not destroy it if I don't have to. Will popping the screws the way Adam shows with nails destroy it?

In the photo above, those are nails. They are slotted for decoration, but they are nails.

That nail is really going to hurt when I find it in my bare feet.

hee hee hee! Sorry, Nac--just too funny when a guy closing in on 3000 posts gets fooled by the Hohner Marine Band SCREW JOB!

I remove all MB nails over a magnet. Nail in the foot free for two years and counting.

Hey, it's my first Marine Band! But, yeah. The other option though was potentially messing up the comb.

I found the nail with a magnet though, so at least my evening won't end all stabby in the foot. This project hasn't been going so well. When Arzajac sent me the comb he included some screws. I didn't notice them in the envelope and they ended up in the recycling bin at the post office.

I'm having some problems with my hands too. I'm not sure if I'm having carpal tunnel issues or if I'm getting arthritis. When it's all done I'll have a beautiful clear combed MB though!

(edit: Buddha, I thought of the magnet to find it in the pile carpet, but I think I'm going to take your advise and do my work over the magnet in the future.)
