If you just want to make your acoustic harp louder, try one of those tie clip electret mics. Maplin has them for about £20. take the clip off and slip the mic cable between your fingers. Alternatively, check out the madcat shaker. Never used one though, so I can't comment further.
I had a tiny electro mic which I bought from Hobgoblin Music for about £100 incl power pack. You need power pack which clips on to your belt
This mic may meet your needs
GR5856 Microvox Harmonica Microphone Fits comfortably between the fingers. For use with the pre amp unit. Made in United Kingdom. Price: £ 36.95 Pounds Stg (€ 43.00 Euro)
Thanks guys. I've found that I'm getting reasonably good results with the mic round my neck. I'll experiment a bit further and may look into one of your suggestions. Thanks for that. :)
I was wondering what you have against mic stands. Electret condenser mics are OK but can easily become harsh and overly bright. For me the ultimate mic for what you want is the Ultimate 58.
