Hi guys, don't know if this type of posting is encouraged but I like to do this when I can and that is post a video with the tab. This is strictly a hobby for me but I enjoy passing on what I have learnt over the years and also to learn from others. I simply enjoy playing for the sheer pleasure it gives me. As i mentioned on my profile I started playing when I was around 15 when I heard this guy at school do some cool blues bends on a harp and thought, ‘I've just got to learn to do this’. So I am self taught playing at first in the Sixties on my trusty (or maybe not so trusty looking back on it!) Echo Super Vampers. I have played sporadically as time went by but really got into playing in a big way again when I discovered Youtube and hooked into the great Adam et al. I would have to say I have learnt more about the harp itself in the last year than all the previous years added together.

I'm continuing to learn plenty from this forum which is great btw.

This is a vid of a song I learnt years ago and it featured on a brilliant tv music programme in the UK called The Old Grey Whistle Test (a platform for live performances from up and coming as well as established bands) The theme was
Stone Fox Chase, a classic by Area Code 615 with the great Charlie McCoy on harp. I'm playing two parts of the riff on Suzuki Harpmasters in A then C.

Well, I don't know if this type of posting is encouraged by the rest of the forum, but it certainly is by me! I love your work. This is the sort of thing that keeps this forum at the top of my favorites list.

I downloaded your 'Albatross' video/tab a week or so ago (along with the Fleetwood Mac version), and have been working on it since. Great stuff! Thanks!

"...don't know if this type of posting is encouraged..."

Can't see why not. Some time ago, I put up a tab of the Godfather theme on my YT channel, and I still get e-mails from folks who are finding it useful.

At the moment, I'm working on some pretty heavy duty tabs (well, manuscripts with the tab written above the notes; tab leaves out so much of the detail).

I'm not doing it for entirely altruistic reasons. Some of the stuff I'm working on is very hard to transcribe, even when massively slowed down, so writing it down and uploading it isn't even 1% of the effort involved.

Keep tabbing away.

Are you kidding? Your stuff is some of the most helpful/cool stuff I've seen on here in awhile.

If there was one more discussion about the benefits of the Super Manji Turbo 1000 vs. The Silver Crossover Big Pond IV with the diamond inlaid teak wood comb I was gonna puke.

Whenever I pull up the forum now, I'm immediately scanning for anything from Greyowlphotoart. You've contributed more in 39 posts than some have in their first 200.

Please keep 'em coming.....and thank you.

I hope this doesn't sound weird but your posts (excellently played tune - with tabs to follow) has totally inspired me/taken me out of a rut.

You are one very cool cat.

ADDENDUM: WOW!!!! just went to your YT page! great stuff, i'm a huge fan already!!!!

A lot of sites that feature tab get take down letters from the recording industry. I think it depends largely on how much there is and how much of it might still be under copyright.

A little and you can argue it's being used as specific fair use for educational purposes. A lot and they argue it's just copyright infringement. Personally, I think someone who learns to play a song is more likely to buy that song, or at least make other people want to buy that song, but what I think and what the record execs think may be two entirely different things. I personally think it's good for everyone involved.

It's a crazy world we live in.

Never even considered the copyright angle (probably because it, on the surface, seems so ridiculous, but yes, i've seen instructional vids on YT yanked, for that very reason).

Ok, so I apologize if my exhortations to Grey to continue with these causes him to do same, and rattles the cage of copyright Nazi's.

Man that would SUCK.

OK, I like'em, if you can continue with them that's cool, if not, hey it's understandable.

Thanks very much for the feedback guys, I appreciate it. @ Nacoran - I must say I was a bit concerned about this copyright issue. Having said that there are videos on some high profile sites on YT with the tabs superimposed over the videos. Also you can also get any amount of guitar tabs on the net. I suppose there is one angle that might say this is not strictly allowed or another that views a non-commercial educational vid as ok. I play my stuff by ear and then work out the tab for what I've played after. I don't do this on most songs I play (for one thing it can be pretty time consuming)These tabs are my interpretation of what I've heard.

I guess I'll have to give this some thought. If anyone can shed any more light on this I'd appreciate it. But thinking about it, if anyone even performs copyrighted songs on YT, I bet this probably contravenes some rule and there are thousands of such vids in cyberspace!

Yeah, copyright is kind of in a transitional stage right now. On YouTube, from what I understand, the different sides seem to be reaching a detente. The person who owns the copyright issues a take down notice, and you can argue fair use and they have to prove it isn't, or, often they will offer to let you keep your stuff up in exchange for them putting an ad underneath linking back to their material. I suspect that's the direction things are heading. There have been some articles on Wired.com, but my bookmark folder is on my old hard drive, which I still can't access, so I don't have a handy link.

You gotta try this song on a PowerBender. It's very cool. :)
